"Who is my neighbor?", someone once asked Jesus.
I've had the opportunity to find that answer -- each time I've headed out as a fill-in driver, staring at a Mapsco printout of an area just outside the neighborhood I'm familiar with, and watching the clock.
The main office staff has never lost patience with me when I've called for directions. The office also faithfully reminds me of the opportunity to serve each summer, when it's vacation time and I leave my classroom.
I started this journey about 15 years ago. I continued it as a very expectant first-time mother; shared these memories when I brought my godchildren along; and expanded it to my younger son -- who still asks when we're going to get to go visit the grandmas and the grandpas again.
This journey has nourished us all. Thank you.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... seeing people able to stay in their homes, with a little help.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the hands-on chance to help, in a simple way.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... kind and patient.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... solicit participation with a campaign as large as United Way's annual fundraiser. But I think that would backfire. This is a grassroots deal.

Everything about Meals on Wheels has been an extremely positive experience, and I feel privileged to be able to be part of such an efficiently-organized and smoothly-functioning organization. From the training day to the site meal pickups, professionalism and dedication are clearly evident.
I come home feeling very blessed myself every time I am called upon to subsitute drive a route and take meals to clients. Their appreciation is heartfelt.

- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... serving more and more clients as needs continue to grow.
- One thing I'd also say is that... The staff at Meals on Wheels is excellent. They show diligence and exemplify the best qualities of social service organizations.
MOW has allowed me to participate in a very soul satisfying experience. The service without a doubt is a lifesaver for those that receive the meals and daily contact. However for me it's a simple commitment to keep me focused on my faith. Serving reiterates the message to me that we are here to give and not take.
The mechanics of MOW is very well organized. It is nice to be met with a smile and a helping hand at the pick-up sites. Daily thousands in the DFW metroplex are delivered a meal and warm greeting - what a way to spread hope.
The Great!
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... enthusiastically dedicated.

Delivering meals to the people on my route has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have always wanted to volunteer for Meals on Wheels (MOW)of Tarrant County, but did not have the availability to do so until this year. The staff at MOW are very well organized and they care deeply about their clients and the volunteers. If you want to provide a valuable service to your community while getting to know wonderful people, I highly recommend you volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County.

They are so appreciative of what we do for them. I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to help them.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Very well organized and dedicated to their job. The orientation meeting was informative and very well run. I am amazed at how well organized the staff is in getting the food prepared and delivered to the local pick up destinations for delivery.

I have been involved with Meals on Wheels for many years helping with their direct mail fund raising efforts. I work with many non profits in the area, but Meals on Wheels is my personal favorite. It is a very professional organization that performs a service which is greatly needed in the community. The people working for MOW are dedicated and have a very strong belief in what they do as well as an honest desire to help!
The Great!
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Reach out to more people in need of a warm meal!
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... As with so many non profits, need is constantly increasing while funding is decreasing. The state of the economy has made fund raising much more of a challenge recently.
