Subscribers to BTE for several years, we have also attended many performances at the main stage over the years. I honestly cannot recall being disappointed at anything we attended at the main stage. However, the Susan Werner/John Gorka performance on March 26, 2010 stands spectacularly out. Both performers obviously enjoyed each other and the audience. Their music and repartee were uniformly wonderful. We can only hope that the MAC will do its best to return both performers, preferably together, back on an annual basis.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... attending, most often, performances of BTE. Most of the plays we've seen were well acted; although we didn't always enjoy some of the plays selected(e.g.,Innumerable Scenes of Halloween). Our experiences at the main stage were inevitably posititive.
Ways to make it better!
- One thing I'd also say is that... we consistently recommend BTE and other productions at the MAC to friends and acquaintances alike.

The Mac and the Buffalo Ensemble theatre group are 2 of the hidden gems of the western suburbs.Quality programming, reasonable ticket prices and ample free parking bring us back year after year. The programming is eclectic enough to pique the interest of adults and children alike. We always eagerly anticipate the announcement of the new performing arts schedule for the upcoming year. Kudos to the director and staff of the Mac for a job well done.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... My wife and I have been season ticket holders for years.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... Diversity of entertainment.Willingness to try new venues and formats (eg. cabaret performances/ seating with alcoholic beverages for sale).
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Very helpful and courteous.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... REplace some of the concert venues in Chicago.
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... The economy and a population that is not fully aware of the excellence of programming at the Mac.
We attend about 8 shows a year at the Mac, and just saw White Ghost Shivers. Virtually all our selections are thumbs up and 5 stars - the variety and quality and price make it a gold mine in west-suburban entertainment.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... The Mac programming - early subsciption notice, wide variety, quantity discounts (and seniors), and really great performances. They do a great job selecting the programming. Kudos to Steven Cummins!

- My experience would have been better if... I cannot even think of a suggestion for improvement!
We regularly attend student productions, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble productions, and music events at the Mac. The quality of the productions is always outstanding. The venue itself is new, comfortable, accessible, and friendly - plenty of parking, etc. And they serve refreshments! This is surely one of the best entertainment values in all of Chicago-land!
The Great!
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... they are well-organized, provide quality entertainment, and always deliver a great value.
Ways to make it better!
- One thing I'd also say is that... the staff are courteous and capable.

We have been "MAC" fans for years. As a family our outstanding memory is seeing the late, great Marcel Marceau in performance on the main stage. Other memorable performances include Angels in America, simultaneous productions of Hamlet and I Hate Hamlet, Hubbard Street Dance, Chuck Mangione, Judy Collins, Jim Belushi, many great jazz and blues performances. Our children were introduced to theater through McAninch children's programs. Now as young adults they remain patrons.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... expanding my appreciation of theater, opera, dance.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... The blend of national touring and student art education.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... friendly and welcoming. The ticket box staff are helpful, but more importantly, willing to exchange tickets to the extent possible. This is a great value for many of us whose schedules are constantly changing.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... 1 Build a bigger theater. 2. Expand art and cultural education and opportunities for the public rather than cut these.
Ways to make it better!
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… Make it the signature program of the College of DuPage.
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Lack of support from the board and executive staff of the college. Lack of funds to bring more nationally known artists to the DuPage community.
