The Mastodon Fair helps students excel, from the inside out. We provide opportunities for students to enter art and/or science projects in an annual professionally juried competition. Since 1979, we have testimonial after testimonial that documents how entering/winning the Fair became the pivitol point in a student''s life or career choice. The Mastodon Art/Science Regional Fair is a non-profit organization comprised of 300 volunteers and one staff member who together conduct a prestigious annual fair for over 3,000 K-12 students in public, private, parochial and home schools. Students can enter one art and one science project and may win the opportunity to represent the Fair at national/international competitions or part of the $35,000 in prizes/scholarships and awards. The Fair also conducts year-round training for teachers and parents.
The Mastodon Fair Art & Science Fair The actual art and science fair is held for 7 days at Jefferson College. Over 3000 students participate in the Fair and can attend free field trips where hands-on workshops teach them the connection of the art and science of life.

Reviews for Mastodon Art-Science Regional Fair
I moved to the Jefferson County area a little over 4 years ago and I was told about the Mastodon Fair. I really didn't know what to expect but it did intrigue me as I am very interested in science and art.
When I got to the fair I was immediately blown away, both by the quantity and the quality of the projects the Fair brings in. Not to mention that the Mastodon Fair is the nations largest Art and Science Fair and it awards over $55,000 in prizes and scholarships to students each year!
Another amazing fact about the Fair is that a handful of participants each year have the opportunity to go onto National and International Competitions and many of these students win!
The Mastodon Fair is changing lives and helping cultivate the future leaders of Jefferson Count, St Louis County and Missouri.

The Mastodon Fair started as a grass roots effort by ladies in the community. For 30 years volunteers and donations from the community has kept it going. Why? Because the Mastodon Fair makes a difference in the lives of students - helping them to excel from the inside out. Skills can be taught. Self-esteem has to be earned. The Mastodon Fair creates opportunities to have students self-esteem radically improved. It is a prestigious art and science Fair with the local reputation that "If you win at the Mastodon Fair, you have really done well!" Our professional judges keep the quality standard very high, and students stretch themselves to exceed those standards. The Mastodon Fair is truly an organization that makes a difference in student lives!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Students decide their career paths because of their experience with the Mastodon Fair. A college scholarship winner went to college because, "I always thought I was smart enough for college, but winning the Mastodon Fair made me believe I really could."
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would hire a marketing person to publicize the benefits the community receives from the Mastodon Fair.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I have enjoyed watching the kids faces light up when they show their parents their award and listening to the parents get to brag on their kids. The Fair gives parents a reason to be proud of their student.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
The staff and volunteers were incredible. They often gave up vacation time from work just to help create this week-long event for local kids. Many volunteers have been helping for more than 10 years!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
If this organization had 10 million dollars, it could have an endowment fund that would secure the Fair for the unlimited future. Since the Fair relies 100% on yearly donations, funding is always a challenge.
Ways to make it better...
If there would have been tables for my artwork, it would have been nicer. They ran out of the old doors/boxes that they use for tables so my art was displayed on paper on the floor.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
The biggest challenge is to keep enough funds raised to prevent having to either limit the number of participants or to charge an entry fee.
One thing I'd also say is that...
The Mastodon Art/Science Fair is the only event that helps public, private and home schooled students at NO charge. The Mastodon Fair positively changed my life and continue to do so for over 3,000 students each year for the past 30 years!
