My son became a member of the Boychoir when he was 9 years old. The Boychoir helped him to develop his confidence, social skills and leadership abilities while providing an extremely challenging and professional music education and performance venue. He was able to travel extensively with the Boychoir on tours during Spring and Summer breaks to many parts of the country as well as Europe. The Boychoir is a non-profit which encourages boys from all walks of life to audition and become members. Scholarships are available to those who cannot afford the tuition. Many boys from inner city Baltimore have joined the Boychoir which has often become a surrogate family for them, providing a support many have never known. Another great thing about this choir is that they do not have the boys leave when their voices change. They work with them during this time period and, thus, have several quality tenors and basses singing with the choir. Most boys who stay in the Boychoir have wonderful grades and go on to attend college due to the discipline they learned while in the Boychoir. My son was a member for 9 years, staying in the Boychoir until he graduated from high school. He went on to receive 3 scholarships to college and has received both his Bachelors and Masters in music related fields.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

bring more boys into the choir and foster the kind of music program that the director has always dreamed of. He has dreamed of a performing arts center where all children could come and learn music. He would love to provide all the costs of this.
