Alanola Health Services uses the MD Society for Sight for all of the employee health fairs we coordinate in the Greater Balitmore Area. The MD Society For Sight provides FREE vision screenings and glaucoma screenings at our events. Not only are they knowledgable in thier field of services, but they conduct themselves in a manner worthy of recognition. I hope to see them at many future events.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

using them as an exhibitor for our events. Our results are measured throught the many good reviews given from the corporations in which we do business.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand their area of services. We have many events in MD near the DC area and would love to have the MD Society for Sight attend those events as well.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the free screenings they provide.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional, courteous, and punctual!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

probably conduct free vision screenings for the everyone in the state of Maryland every year.

Ways to make it better...

I was aware of their service five years ago!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

that they do not have enough staff to handle all of those that could use their service.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am glad to see that the people I work with seem very responsive and passionate about the cause. It is always important to have representative who really believe in what they are promoting.

We have had the privilege of knowing this organization for almost a year. They have been instrumental in helping our clients provide a vital service to their employees - screening for glaucoma. At each health fair, their table is busy from start to finish, and several people who didn't know they had glaucoma have been identified. Getting additional attention for that can really help them improve their quality of life and seek treatment soon enough to make a difference and possibly save their eyesight. This is a great organization that delivers a valuable service. We appreciate their commitment to helping people protect their sight.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping our clients' employees discover sight-saving information through the screening process. People are very grateful to have this service available and several will likely have better vision because of it!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extremely helpful, accomodating, and knowledgeable. Willing to stay beyond the time scheduled, so they could help everyone who wanted to be screened.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Prevent a lot of people from losing their sight to glaucoma!

I had the wonderful opportunity to intern with The Maryland Society for Sight for an internship college requirement. I was able to gain insight of what is like to work with a diverse population such as school age kids and older population for the Glaucoma screening program. Working with the staff members was a wonderful experience, both Audrey and Jacqueline are very professional and dedicated to the mission of the society. I would definately recommend this program to anyone who wants to make a difference in the community.

I first got involved with the Maryland Society for Sight as a volunteer. I was matched with a client with macular degeneration who needed assistance with grocery shopping. It was a wonderful experience which grew from a desire to assist someone in the community into a long term friendship. After a year of viewing first hand what this group was able to accomplish on a tight budget, I joined the Board of Directors, later serving as Chairperson. Twelve years of volunteering with the Maryland Society for Sight and I am still impressed daily with the skill, energy and compassion of the staff of this mighty little organization.

I witness the interworkings of this group. Audrey as Exec Dir brings years of compassion and institutional knowledge from her prior position as head of the preschool screening program. Sherry, Jackie and Darlene are tireless champions of their programs.

IT has been a pleasure to be able to work with the great people of the Md society for Sight. They are tireless in their efforts to better serve the underserved in Baltimore and the surrounding region. Sherry Rowe is a gem in providing a warm personal touch and consistent follow up for all in need. Jacquline Nerette offers her true and genuine selfless energy to the screening projects. The whole team carries a sense of mission with compassion. I am proud to be associated with them. Sam Boles _____________________ Samuel F. As a rising junior at Brown University with the ultimate goal of attending medical school, I can honestly say that working with Director Audrey Novak at the Maryland Society of Sight has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. Though courses in neuroscience and psychology have taught me the key role of early intervention for medical health, actually working in preschools has given me first hand exposure in the importance of organizations such as this one. When teachers find that a difficult, contradictory child may have serious vision problems that once addressed may ameliorate his behavior, it is as if a sense of hope is restored. A similar exhiliration comes when a grown adult begins to understand the importance of regular visits to the eye doctor. Baltimore is lucky to have the MD Society for Sight.

The Maryland Society of Sight is an excellent non-profit organization with a clear mission to preserve sight. Audrey Novak personally assisted me to learn more about vision screening when I was a new elementary school nurse. She then presented this information to all of our nurses and has been available to consult with us as needed.

This organization has helped our school nurses to be better screeners so that we can maximize our student's academic potential.
