This organization has a truly great purpose but I have done research that shows their admin and fund raising expenses are far higher than they should be, 35%. These expenses should total no more than 10%.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

none

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Lower admin and fundraising expenses to a more acceptable level

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides an outstanding service to the children of our veterans. What a great relief it must be to the families of these recipients to not have to worry about college eduaction costs.

The staff and mission of the MCSF are phenomenal. They do an excellent job of pushing themselves to figure out the best way to help kids of Marines. The dedication to and honor of Marine families is unprecedented.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the amount of support (financial and volunteers) at the Marine Corps Marathon.

the unrelenting commitment to Marine families and education.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

guarantee the access to excellent education for more children of Marines, including sending every child of a fallen Marine since 9/11 to college.

I'm a recipient of this scholarship and must say that the people involved with this nonprofit organization are 100% dedicated to helping the children of marines. In all aspects this scholarship has surpassed my expectations. The members are dearly committed to furthering their reach to help as many people as possible. If your looking to make a substantial difference, emotionally and monetarily, this is the outlet for you to do so. Further more if you want more hands on experience I highly suggest participating in one of their fundraising events, which you can find on their website.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have received two scholarships from this organization and helped raise money via a marathon team. Without the help I received from this organization I wouldn't be filling out applications for graduate school.

I volunteer to raise money for The Foundation because I believe it's mission of assisting Marines and former Marines who cannot afford to send their qualified children to college is a most worthy cause. The value set of many of these young people is exactly what has made our country great. Educating them provides America with the potential leaders as well as the good citizens necessary to sustain our leadership position in the world. Honoring the service of these parents by helping to educate their children is a win-win for all concerned.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the testimony of the young men and women who have personally benefitted from the scholarships provided.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Improve on public relations and publicity for the various chapters and committees engaged in annual fund raising activities around the country.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Working with a group of former Marines to raise significant amounts of money for a very worthy cause.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated, competent, and driven to succeed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide even more scholarship support to worthy and qualified young people.

Ways to make it better...

I could have raised more money for The Foundation.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Volunteer and donor fatigue as we attempt to significantly increase the amount of net revenues we raise to provide scholarships on behalf of The Foundation.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Despite having been engaged in volunteer work for many years, I have not found a more highly motivating and worthy cause than providing assistance to qualified young men and women in completing their educations.

I can't think of a better way to help the legacies of our warriors that give so much for this country. This is a small way to say thanks and to honor those men and women. The government only does so much to help but caring citizens of this country continue to be the vehicle of opportunity for those that need additional resources. Good luck to all that continue their higher education.

Thanks to my father-in-law, Salvatore J. D'Ascenzo, USMC.(Member of the Fighting 6th) His wonderful stories of his company, which volunteered to storm the hills, in the Okinawa invasion -in order to restablish radio contact; all the while the Jap's were sending up flares to spot and riddle the beaches with machine gun fire to kill our men...I have never been more moved and devoted to do whatever I can for the soldiers of the USMC. In that same vein, I made a wonderful friend, Captain Lawrence Borger, USMC. He met my father-in-law Sam and they talked for hours. I have the upmost respect for the men who wear our nation's uniform and fly our colors with pride. These are the real heros of America! Excuse me; but Pelosi,Reid, Rahm, Obama and the kist goes on; never shed any blood for this great land and probably very few tears, (unless it was a photo opportunity) This nation is GREAT and lives on thanks to the men and woman who have made the armed forces their passion. God bless them all!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have met some of the wonderful children who have benefitted from the USMC scholarship funds, They were all unique and have several touching memories of their times with their Dads.

Again, not to sound like I am dodging the question...that's Clinton's and Obama's specialty. I need to know more. I cant, nor will I pass judgement when I don't have the facts to support my thoughts.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Raising the money. I have been in the business of raising public funds for investments, i.e. brokerage firms and then in 2000 I left to start the firm I run today, I-95 Venture Capital Productions, LLC. I love to persuade folks to see the logic and hope

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated, yet a little older and not quite cognizant of the ability to sell, resell and talk up another big fund raiser the USMC has in the making. The elderly ladies always reminded by of the volunteers running the church bake sales

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

I'd have to see the needs/wants list to be able to give you an educated opinion. I do think with the war on the 24 hours a day, we are missing the natural invite to people's homes to ask, "who is going to help these kids go to school? That's our job USA!

Ways to make it better...

I was more involved in the various "plans of action" I am a marketing working stiff. But I am positive, a set of clean, rested eyes, would invigorate your mission!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Getting AMERICA to know you exist. You've got to "scmooze" the O'Reilly's, Justin Timberlake, Rick Warren, Newt Gingrich, Ann Coulter, Oprah Winfrey, sports and movie stars , hold a telethon...make America see the plight and give some money to make it!!!

One thing I'd also say is that...

Look at what's doing is it right, not right or wrong. Reach out to guys like me who can maket from the heart.DO photos, film, rallies - get America talking. Not everyone likes this war - but they feel AWFUL for the wounded; even worse for their kids!

As a retired Air Force Officer and Vietnam Veteran I've worked with many Marines. I have always been impressed with their militarism, moral character, but most of all their dedication to their family. It was my friendship with a retired USMC Col. that convinced me to join the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. No other organization does so much good for so many who are so deserving. Thank you.

A great and honorable cause. Many don't realize the sacrifice that Marine Corps families make for their country. They deserve all the support they can get.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change a lot of Marine Corps kids lives. They sacrifice just as much as their parent in service does.
