I came to know about MAD in a session conducted by the MAD volunteers in my company. The idea of teaching the under-privileged students interested me a lot. Since then I was contemplating joining MAD and participate in this noble task. I have joined MAD now and feel so excited about working for it. The volunteers of MAD are educated young guns, bubbling with energy and enthusiasm along with commitment towards the work. I wish all success to MAD and wish we grow by leaps and bounds. Feeling ecstatic going MAD !!

MAD...I've been working with it for a year and a half now..and its already an inseparable part of my life!!! I can't imagine a week without meeting my kids, learning with them and yes, teaching them! The smile that bubbles on to the kids, who are waiting to see the bhaiyyas and didis troop in, bringing with them, news from the outside world, is invaluable! Moreover, the satisfaction that you get after teaching them is something i really can't explain in words...its like a happy feeling, and i feel like i've done something good that day! MAD has contributed immensely in moulding my personality..It taught me the importance of the human touch, few words of praise and affection, and that it can help erase bad memories forever! I love being a part of this cool organisation, and would want to continue working for it as long as i can... GO MAD!!!!!!!!

A person like me who really loves spending time with kids feels that mad is the best place to be. I have a worked with quite a few ngos teaching kids but have never come accross 1 which is as active and organised as madd. The time commitment madd requires is also suitable for most of us(2hours a week).I feel this is my first step towards making a difference and the results show. I can feel the kids love us ,they like to be taught by us and look forward to the classes with us.I was extremely touched when one of my students actually came and touched my feet which shows how much they respect us. The best part about mad is the way the syllabus is structured , different activities for teaching a particular topic so that its more of fun and learning and quick learning. As a result the students dont get bored and are able to learn faster. The classes require some amount of preparation but its nice to see your work and effort getting good results. What builds and strengthens an organisation is its members which is a plus point madd has. everybody is extremely dedicated and friendly and in case of any problem which rarely happens we have a core committee which is extremely helpful, always available for us and friendly as well).Through madd i got to interact with a lot of new people and it definitely made me more outgoing considering the kind of introvert i was. i was also a bit confused about teaching as a career but now after working with madd i am sure i want to take this further. trust me teaching some1 gives you a lot of happiness and its better than any other happiness in the world.i really look forward to that 1 special day in the week which has changed my life!!!

The Trivandrum branch of Make A Difference came into being in the first half of this year and I've been with it almost right from its inception. Nearly all the volunteers are college students and everything is done by them. A student myself, perhaps this is why I don't feel so out of place at MAD. We learn from each other, we learn with each other. I have been teaching at the SH Jyothi Bhavan at Nalanchira for the past four months. The eagerness of the girls to learn and the enthusiasm with which they welcome us humbles me every time. I think I'm becoming a better person because of them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the children I teach English to. Slowly but surely, they are gaining more confidence to speak the language.

not "were" but ARE. The staff and the volunteers are the most dedicated people you'll find anywhere and are united in their goal to "Make a Difference"

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

start providing computer education to the children which is a prerequisite in this day and age.

Happy that iam getting a platform to express my experience and joy in joining this organization.MAD is in simple terms ultimate fun.Building tomorrows assets today. For any firm/nation,its the people who are considered to be the most valuable asset. If we can make the youth powerful in knowledge and skills, then we can see the future shine in glory.Thats what MAD does.Bridging the inequality in society through education. The rich has options, but what does the underprivileged has?The middle class has life, but the street kids wish for one.The growing has ways to measure that, but the poor has none to look after its growth.MAD works among these future assets of the country, teach them english and computers.Guide them with placement activities, career awareness and guidance, opening the eyes of an orphan to see a whole new world that he would not even have imagined. The organization follows the'young lead the young' strategy, hence sure of never dying spirit for change. All volunteers are so enthusiastic and involved, that they many times postpone or cancel their personal works and go to the centers to teach the kids.Over the last few years of MAD's activities,we have seen unmatched progress in the life of each kid associated with us.They now understand care, love and affection. They understand that they too can lead a normal life than any other.Above all they do believe that they proudly can say anywhere and to anyone that 'indeed life is blessed, and its in our hands to define our destiny',that too in pure english. Thanks to MAD that these kid's future is valued.

The Great!

I have been a M.A.D volunteer for about one and a half years now. I joined having a very vague idea of what they did. I didn't want to change the world, and I certainly didn't think I could teach all that well. But the people there and the kids you get to teach change you overtime. I learned a lot from the folds of MAD volunteers. The kids and volunteers both are like family to me, as is the case with lots of MAD volunteers. There are kids who passed out and still keep in touch with me. Talking with them and checking up on their progress makes my day. MAD is driven by the youth, and as such it runs on the inexhaustible resource of youth initiative. MAD harnesses this potential to address a valid social cause of plugging the holes in the education system that underprivileged children are exposed to. Now, not only do I want to change the world, I'm convinced that education is the most powerful tool to do so.

I have been with Make A Difference for the past 7 months and each moment has been challenging as well as gratifying to say the least. From forming a new team in Mumbai, to finding like minded people to increase the stability of the services and above all, going each week to teach an eager group of children, it has been one experience I shall always cherish. The part I love the most about MAD is the confidence of each volunteer in its core belief. The ideology is simple. Education is the key to solving the problems that our society faces. The method is simple too - Lets teach. A plan is chalked out. A syllabus provided. Each volunteer is trained to make maximum use of the syllabus to reach the goal i.e a fluent English speak group of children. Not only have I become a part of MAD but now, MAD has become a part of me. MAD has helped me stabilise and motivated me to be the best person I can be.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the confidence levels of the children we teach. Also, on a personal level, the moment you stop lazing around on a Saturday monday and get up early because a bunch of children are waiting for you, you know that you are a changed person.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the camaraderie between volunteers of different cities. Without having met or seen, each volunteer is just bound together with one aim and that forms friendships that even years of close proximity cant foster

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly to say the least. Excited and determined.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

start more centres, thus in turn teach more children. set up computer centres and reading libraries in each of its exisiting centres.
