Our family, beginning with my grandparents were regular donors to Lutheran World Relief. Over the years, we have sent cash gifts, but most recently, gifts from the LWR catalogue to remember special occasions inour lives. Many 50th anniversary recipients have had pigs, chicks or goats given in their honor. At christmas, we educate an AIDS orphan for each of our children and grandchildren. What a joy to give as Christ has given to us - reaching out, selflessly, and in true joy! God has blessed this organization with the ability to operate on bare bones so that 91 cents of each dollar is used for ministry! Have you written them into your charitable gifting plan? We have!

I am proud to be a donor and volunteer for Lutheran World Relief. They are an organization that truly embodies their core values in all aspects of the organization. I have seen first hand how the work that they do is life changing, and they work extremely hard to continually increase their effectiveness each and every day, week, month, and year.

There are a lot of faith-informed organizations out there that seem more committed to providing flashy relief and winning converts than actually investing themselves into the populations they serve. From what I've seen, Lutheran World Relief is dedicated to long-term development, not merely showing up to places that are in the news then abandoning them once the media attention has passed. The staff members I have met are people with real heart and concern; it's always great to know organizations like this exist. They also provide very meaningful and useful information on the work they're doing in the countries; their blog is a pleasure to read.

reading about the work they've done, talking to staff members, and talking to people in development who have observed LWR's work.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
give them more money so they can expand their services.
