LMM has a long history with helping thousands of people in so many ways. I have attended a number of their events over the years and leave each one feeling revived. The stories of personal successes from those who were helped by a certain program or service at LMM always seems to make their personal stories emphasize empowerment. The future of LMM is so bright as they focus on innovative programs. These include Their Social Enterprise programs to teach employable skills and to help the community. The Central Kitchen that serves meals thousands of homeless and also teaches culinary skills. There is the bike rack program that teaches fabrication skills and are sold to businesses all around Cleveland. My personal favorite is the Community Garden. There are so many neat and innovative ideas and alot of passion taking place at LMM. If you have time you should visit them and see where you fit in.

I live in the suburbs of Cleveland and feel insulated from many of the problems that a big city has - high unemployment, violence, crime, drugs, and poverty. I am so proud of the many all-stars thatt Lutheran Metroploitan Ministry has working to promote peace, justice, advocacy, and serviceto those who are oppressed, forgotten, and hurting in Cleveland. The efforts of this organization are making a difference in the downtown area and they should be commended.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The largest men's shelter in NE Ohio is owned by LMM, and through my church, I have supported and attended events there. The shelter provides safe housing to 3,400 men each year and offers various other services including a work experience program, housing readiness classes, art therapy, gardening and referrals- all designed at building self-sufficiency.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I am planning to volunteer my time to support the efforts of LMM.

The Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry in Cleveland, Ohio serves people who need a friend- the homeless and other people who need a boost in their "hope" meter. The various agencies under the Lutheran Metro Ministry umbrella are all served by a warehouse on Prospect Ave. As a volunteer, I bring small items of furniture, lamps, bedding, towels, dishes, pots and pans, and anything a person might need to start a better new life in their new apartment. Larger items of furniture are also donated and picked up by the Ministry's two trucks to bring to the warehouse. Men who live at the Ministry's huge shelter on Lakeside Dr. work at the warehouse sorting donations, and some day, each one of them may be able to move into their own place and have basic items for their own home. They also may learn to repair bicycles or learn other useful skills. The warehouse director, Lisa, and the warehouse supervisor, John, work hard to make dreams come true for some of Cleveland's homeless people. Lutheran Metro Ministry offers many other services- there isn't enough room here to tell all the good things they do. Karen Reid

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have met both employees and clients working at the warehouse, all courteous and helpful.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Provide them with several newer trucks, and more drivers. Increase their ability to advertise their services and needs to Cleveland and its suburbs.
