Lutheran family services in the carolinas (lfs) is dedicated to one simple goal, helping the most vulnerable in north and south carolina. Embracing christ's call to serve, lfs walks alongside thousands of people in our communities as they journey through healing and wholeness. We help place children in loving foster and adoptive homes, provide comprehensive services to adults with special needs, aid veterans in regaining independence, help refugees acclimate to life in a new country and counsel families in their time of need. The organization is an affiliate of lutheran services for the carolinas (lsc) and shares in the group's mission as follows: "empowered by christ, we walk together with all we serve".
Lfs offers family and therapeutic foster care to meet the special physical and emotional needs of the vulnerable children in our care. Some children suffer from medical problems such as fetal alcohol syndrome and drug addiction. Older children can have emotional and behavioral issues and are given counseling when needed. Many families will have the opportunity to adopt when reunification with a child's biological family is not possible. Finding permanent, safe, and supportive families for children is the goal of lfs foster care.
lfs provides residential services for adults coping with various degrees of autism, developmental disability, mental illness, and symptoms resulting from traumatic brain injury. Self-sufficiency is taught and encouraged in these homes, though many clients will live out their lives with lfs.
other program services include adoption, counseling, refugee, community- based partnership initiatives and disaster response.

I am writing this letter to highly recommend Lutheran Family Services. When others wouldn't get involved LFS did.The Per Diem for Veterans is so low that most organizations just passed over the opportunity to help Veterans, especially female Veterans. LFS stepped up and filled the gap. Not only did they step up but, they have succeeded beyond expectations. Angels House has an 85% success Rate in the first 12 months of operation. There are previously homeless female veterans who now have a second chance at life. They live on their own LFS also continues to help Children,Refugees and the Community. I cannot express enough my support and high regard for LFS. Sincerely, Ara Adams
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the way the graduates of Angels House treat themselves and others. To watch women who entered the house with several significant strikes against them. Solve problems, get a job, save money and eventually establish their own home.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Making a difference!
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Professional and deeply committed to the women they serve.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Open more homes and truly make a difference in the lives of more veterans. There are a lot of organizations out there but very few who truly make a difference.
