I don't know where I'd be without the LUNGevity foundation and especially the LCSC. Two days after my Mom was diagnosed, after reading awful, hopeless statistics, I logged onto LCSC for the first time. Their I found hope, support, and friendship. I clung to the message board as a lifeline throughout my mother's illness, her decline, and even after her death. It was the only place that I found where people 'got it' about Lung Cancer. Katie Brown who began the support board and whose role with LUNGevity has expanded recently is an amazing voice of compassion and support. She workds tirelessly to support and advocate for those dealing with this disease. LUNGevity not only gave me support through the support boards, but provided an avenue to raise funds and awareness myself. I enjoyed walking as a satellite walker in one of the walks a few years back and I try to support others walks and endeavors as well. I love it's focused support for the deadliest cancer out there.

I found this organization in May 2007 after my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. We were terrified of the diagnosis and were sure it was an immediate "death sentence". We were quickly calmed by the wonderful people sharing their experiences living with lung cancer...some for many, many years! The people have knowledge of so many research studies, treatment possibilities, side effects and the emotions involved that there was never a situation we were in that someone didn't have experience in. It became a place where I found life-long friendships that I treasure, all from one of the worst times in my life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my ability to support my mother during her disease and, since her passing, helping me ease into my life without her.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting wonderful people who have become like family to me.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

intelligent, knowledgable, and willing to help in any way they could.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

work toward earlier diagnosis and finding a cure!

I found this organization in 2004 when my husband was battling lung cancer. Since then, I have come for support and encouragement during some very difficult times as I lost my husband, dad, mom and uncle to lung cancer. Everyone has been great and so supportive. Katie Brown is a gifted individual with great ideas and leadership for this community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

getting support and providing support to others going through the same things I've been through.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wouldn't change a thing...it is a great organization.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Daily support and encouragement when I needed it most.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

top notch! Caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

advance lung cancer research.

Ways to make it better...

I wouldn't change a thing.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the ability to obtain funding for lung cancer research.

One thing I'd also say is that...

When my wife was diagnosed with lung cancer in March 2010 the family and myself were totaly ignorant and confused. My eldest daughter discovered the web site and since then I have had only proffessional and personal advice from all the members. Every posting was promptly answered on and advice or compassionate help offered. We ar all in the same situation and Lungivity Foundation has proved its worth with all the help and also the reports of the research taking place to try and eradicate or better treat this terrible disease. My wife has passed away but I will continue visiting the site. Once again thank you or everything you did for me and the family

Lungivity came along at the perfect time for me when I was dealing with my husband's lung cancer. The support and encouragement I got from this group was amazing. Even now, after eight months of his passing I "know" I can always count on these wonderful people. God Bless each and everyone one of them.

I found this organization by searching the web for a lung cancer support site. My Mom, Aunt, Uncle, Mother-in-Law and Brother-in-Law all died from lung cancer. Then I was diagnosed with it. Have been trying to find my new normal ever since, and wanted to find a site to help normalize the experience, and also to be able to share and help others. It is an amazing place with amazing and kind people. I highly recommend it for anyone living with or loving someone with a lung cancer diagnosis.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my life. I've found friends that experienced care giving issues and friends that have gone through lung cancer. I'm both.

not do anything as from what I can see they are doing a great job anyway
