Love a child has always been true to their word. They are truly the best charity in Haiti with almost 92% of every $$ to the programs.I donated $10000 which feed 260,000 meals. The meals are financed and prepared for by Starving Children in MN and the $10000 paid for transportation. There is NOT another organization that gets more for the $$ than Love A Child. They are truly dedicated to their work and ask little to support themselves. while the United way typically pays their management $250K per year these people are a gift from God. making the most with what they have and barely making ends meet for the betterment of others.

I have been a supporter of Love A Child's work for a few years now, and just read a few of the reviews here and was surprised by one of them. I believe I was on the very same team trip recently which Bryan is writing about where he was displeased with the way Bobby and Sherry approach their mission. I do not agree at all with the imprsession that Bryan wrote and in fact all my dealings with Love A CHild have been abut the opposite of his experience. I remember thinking Bryan had a personal agenda when he was there with us. I am disappointed that he would choose a public forum to express his discontent the Love A Child way is not the same as he would things, or the way they do it at the other orphanage he has been to. In spite of that, I can't imagine a more dedicated selfless group serving and understanding the needs of Haitians than Love A Child. Consider that they actually live there full time, not just have visited 3-4 times. They live with the people they serve in the name of Jesus, and serve them in the same way Jesus would. I appreciate having a reliable organization like Love A Child that I can confidently partner with, knowing that great work is being done. I can't do it myself so I am happy that the Burnettes do it for me, for Him.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the broad array of help and hope they dispense. Their ministry gives many many Haitians the hope and encouragement to keep accepting and loving Christ by showing His love in the many works they undertake.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

. . . get them more help. Their programs expand to meet the ever-growing needs in Haiti and they cannot do it all themselves. They need more missionaries in the field wiht them. God Bless them for what they do, even if not everyone appreciates it.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

knowing that my servants heart gets put to good use through this organization

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

tireless, dedicated, caring. We were a very large group for them and they did their best to accomodate all of us.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change even more lives than it does now. They could furhter their ideas to provide employment, training, health services

Ways to make it better...

it wasn't so hot . . .

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

growing too fast becasue there is so much to do and so many Haitians depend upon them to help and give them a hand up.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I marvel at what they have been lead to accomplish in a very tough country. I KNOW God's hand is upon them.

Love A Child is the best missions organization I have ever witnessed 1st hand. I have traveled to Haiti 185 times on mission projects all over the country. I also have taken over 30 other mission trips to Central America and Europe. I have 2 doctoral degrees and have pastored the same church for 30 years. I have much experience with people and christian ministries. The directors of LAC, Bobby and Sherry Burnette, have excellent character, are extremely responsible in finances, and are exemplary in their stewardship of what God has given them. This is evidenced by the following. They live in thier orphanage with 77 orphaned children, have 15 churches-christian schools-feeding programs in remote areas, conduct mobile medical clinics in the mountains, maintain the Jesus Healing Center Clinic which is funded monthly by Joyce Myers Ministries, distribute over 750,000 meals of Feed My Starving Children food each month (Jentzen Franklin Ministries helps support this), distributes food each month to 39 other missions organizations at no charge, operates a christian radio station, employs 350 nationals which helps the local econemy, and now is constructing permanent housing for those displaced by the earthquake. After the earthquake they partnered with Harvard Humanitarian Initiative to operate a field hospital on their property as well as partnering with the American Refugee Committe in operating a tent city for displaced people. Of course anyone can research this for themselves by going to thier website or viewing their TV program.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing people converted to Christ, seen the joy of impoverished people have help, seen lives changed by having the opportunity to work

Encourage them to solicit more missionaries to help them on the ground in Haiti

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the integrity of Bobby and Sherry Burnette, the real compassion and love for the Haitian people they have, the excellence of ministry, and the fact that they give God all the Glory for what he has done throught Love A Child.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

American missionaries, volunteer work teams, and national employees. Most everyone has a real heart for the vision of LAC

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

continue to help the country of Haiti to a much larger degree, which is their goal.

Ways to make it better...

I could stay longer and give more financially.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the need for more volunteers and long term staff to assist them.

One thing I'd also say is that...

if you go to the website Loveachild.com you will see the financial integrity. Ovee 91% of their income goes to program services

After working in Haiti for the past 3 years at several different ministries I was overwhelmed when I finally saw the Love A Child facility. I had heard about Sherry and Bob from several other ministries. All the reports were the same and when I finally visited there facility I understood fully the reports I had heard. I'm giving them one star for several reasons. 1st, they LOVE to brag, and they have a very prideful spirit. In the same breath that they are praising God they continually remind you that "THEY THEY THEY" 2nd They belittle other ministries as not being knowledgeable of Haiti. And 3ed they where often hypocritical. one example was in a conversation about there Orphanage and how they "Raise there Children" The 2 founders stated that you have to "raise them like Haitians" while instilling Biblical principals, so they they will grow to be leaders of Haiti. This is a very true statement. However, the conditions they live in can only be described with one word "Bougwa" (google it) I give the one star to God because even threw Love a Child's arrogance God is doing a good work.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Quit wasting money trying to look good to the outside world and focus on the people of Haiti.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

As with the ruling elite in Haiti this organization uses there financial status to get things done with out much interference from the Haitian Government.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

All were kind and have a much more Christ like attitude than the directors.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

It probably does and when you see the facility compared to the rest of Haiti you see they like to waste money in the Name of God

Ways to make it better...

Sherry the Director would think more of Christ and less of Self.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Lack of respect from long time well respected ministries in Haiti. Some NGO work with LAC because they simply cant get things any other way. UNICEF openly states they are tired of LAC's arrogance and Demands.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The reason they have the large medical facility stationed on there compound is because they were told that If they did not let the UN set up a field hospital on and in there facility and buildings that the Haiti government would seize the property.

Frequent volunteer. Loved the work this organization does. They are feeding the hungry, providing housing to the homeless, medical care for the injured and sick, jobs to Haitians so they become self sufficient. I truly feel this is a ten star organization

WONDERFUL organization who has it's leaders living with the children at the orphanage. Also, has a new medical facility on site where they extend help to as many as possible, both children and adults alike. This organization goes into the remote areas of HAITI and set up medical clinics to give help to those who can not travel to get the help needed. I have personally been several times to observe and help with the projects. What a wonderful job they are doing and have been doing for twenty years. They also share the food and supplies with other organization there so that many others are able to be reached as well as build homes for the homeless.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

medical clinics, orphanages, homes built for the homeless in Haiti, feeding the poor and providing water wells where it's needed so much.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

KNOWING for certain how much of the money received by them is going directly to the projects in Haiti

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

courteous, knowedgable, very devoted to the mission of helping the people of Haiti.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

offer help to many others in Haiti, build other villages as the one done so far, build additional medical clinics and orphanges and womens clinics where mothers could learn to care for their children properly and the pregnant could get prenatal care.

Ways to make it better...

I could have stayed longer to help more.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the lack of enough money, and profession helpers to treat those in need of it.

One thing I'd also say is that...

If ever anyone wondered about this organization, I can assure you the money donated is well spent and that many many Haitians have been helped through Love A Child who has it's own founders living there with the people.
