Mission: In 1967 The Los Angeles Free Clinic was founded with the goal of serving a small group of people who had nowhere else to turn for health care.Today the Clinic has evolved inot a community hub for comprehensive medical and dental care and social services; accomodating nearly 80,000 patient visits each year.
Programs: Hollywood wilshire health clinic - the hollywood wilshire clinic, located on melrose avenue, provides primary care for adults and children, which includes health maintenance services such as physical exams, pap smears and breast exams; diagnosis and treatment of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and asthma; family planning services, hiv testing and counseling, and testing and treatment of other sexually transmitted diseases; cancer screening and blood pressure screening.
beverly clinic - the medical clinic at the beverly boulevard site provides primary medical care for adults that includes health maintenance services such as physical exams, pap smears and breast exams; diagnosis and treatment of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and asthma; family planning services, hiv testing and counseling, and testing and treatment of other sexually transmitted diseases; cancer screening, blood pressure screening, acupuncture, and limited specialty services such as ent, ophthalmology, gynecology, rheumatology, and minor surgery.
mark s. Taper clinic:the mark s. Taper clinic offers comprehensive health and psychosocial services for adults and children, with a specially-focused program for adolescents and at-risk youth. Services include general primary care services, along with the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, hiv testing and counseling, family planning services, substance abuse and suicide prevention and counseling. A prenatal program provides comprehensive care to pregnant women, and gynecology services are also offered for women of all ages.
wallis annenberg children & family health center -this facility serves general health and dental care, primarily to children and families. Dental clinic -the dental clinic delivers services to both children and adults of all ages. Services include general screening, oral exams and diagnostic visits, x rays and restorative procedures such as filling, extraction, pulpotomies, crowns and root canals, dentures, emergency and palliative care, and such preventive care as cleaning, sealants and oral hygiene education. The plaque buster program provides patients with informative brochures and an anti-plaque kit of toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and plaque disclosure tablets. Behavioral health -the behavioral health department operates at all clinic sites to provide case management and short term counseling services to people of all ages. Case management includes information and referrals; short-term counseling includes depression screening, individual and couples counseling, and family counseling; group counseling includes a teen group and a parenting group. Limited psychiatric services are also available. Education and outreach -the education and outreach department provides health education to people of all ages, at all three clinic sites as well as at community meetings, health fairs and other public events, with a special focus on adolescents and the reduction/prevention of risky behaviors through the peer educators in a specially designed interactive model. Education staff also conducts hiv testing and counseling.
