I started volunteering in September of this year at The Lord's Pantry. When I first started I was simply amazed at the dedication of the people working and volunteering. I enjoy what I do and it gives me great pleasutre seeing the people 's faces of who we help.

This was the first time for me to volunteer. It was very rewarding to see and work with a very organized group and be able to help so many people during Thanksgiving time. The organizers were very friendly and efficiently used everyone's time. Great job. Thanks fo rthe opportunity.

In 2009, we volunteered with the Thanksgiving Dinner distribution as well as the Christmas Present Distribution Setup. We so enjoyed our experience that we are volunteering again this Holiday season. We were so impressed by the organization's ability to assemble not only volunteers but solicit donations/contributions to help those in need in the Lionville/Exton/Downingtown area. With the economic downturn that's effecting so many, it's heartwarming to see the continued outpouring of care and compassion for those in need. The Lord's Pantry of Downingtown reminds us of the little blue train engine that is willing to try, and while repeating the mantra "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" overcomes a seemingly impossible task. We know you can! Judy Lambert & Don Rehmann

I have been going to the Lords Pantry for over a year now. I am a single mother of two growing Boys ages 17 and 11. I was making $45,000/yr when I lost my job due to this economic crisis. I depleted my savings and had no where else but to turn to some social services. I was turned down by alot of places due to the fact that I do earn some type of income but it just does not seem like enough to make it in these times. Everything seems to be on the rise but wages. So a friend suggessted I turn to the Lords Pantry, which I must tell you I was resistent to do because I was ashamed of not being able to provide as well as I used to for my children. Jan and the staff made me feel completely at ease and never made me feel less than "normal". They have supplied my kids with christmas gifts, back to school items and other numerous donations. I am also a full time human service major in college and hope to one day be able to give back to this great organization. It is good to have a place to go for people like me, who are considered not poor enough to receive state aid but yet not rich enough to self sustain. Jan and the staff are courteous and gracious and God will bless them someday for the work they do ffor this community. If we had more people like them in this world it would be such a better place.

The Lord's Pantry provides emergency food and caring help for those with low income. I am impressed with the wonderful spirit of the volunteers of all ages as well as their generosity. This 100% volunteer organization meets many needs and I get to witness that first hand.

The Lord's Pantry provides vital assistance to the Downingtown community through food to the most needy. The pantry is well run with services provided on a fair and equal basis to those in need. The experience is not of a classical food bank, but one where the clientele is allowed to shop in the pantry, just as if they were in a supermarket. This removes the stigma of those in need and provide a wholesome experience in receiving much needed assistance.

The Lord's Pantry deserves six stars for its contribution to the people of need in the Downingtown area. Under the leadership of Jan Leaf and Linda, her assistant, the Pantry serves over 700 clients with about 100 caring volunteers. The clients receive not only food monthly but also help at holidays and other special occasions. This December the Pantry coordinated and distributed toys for 500 children. We have volunteered for about a dozen years such as picking up food, stocking shelves, doing paperwork and helping with improvements in the building.

I have been a volunteer for 6 years at the Lord's Food Pantry and I have never in my life been involved in a more incredible agency!!! The commitment of its director and co director are amazing and completely volunteer and the respect that is shown to the clients is beyond compare. I am so very proud to be part of this organization. I will continue to do anything I can to stay involved at the pantry where I believe the commitment to its clients always comes FIRST.
