LORD S PANTRY OF DOWNINGTOWN

This is a wonderful organization. They go above and beyond when helping the members of our community. I've seen them scramble to provide for people who were new or not in the system. 'No' isn't a word that is in their vocabulary.

This organization is constantly trying to find ways to better serve their constituents. The Pantry's efforts to provide items that contribute to a healthy diet vs. "filler" items that add calories but not substance, is particularly noteworthy. The organization is staffed by unselfish people who freely give their time and treasure to improve people's lives.

I have volunteered at the pantry for the past 2 years. I quickly learned that it is much more than a building where groceries are provided for families in need. It is a great place to serve and be served. Downingtown is blessed to have this amazing organization and its wonderful people. Lesa Hayden

We've just concluded a very successful Thanksgiving & Christmas food distribution for the needy. In addition we distributed huge quantities of toys for all who requested this assistance. I am always amazed at the spirit of cooperation and the first class systems in place to handle these distributions in a professional and caring manner. The Lords Pantry of Downingtown always goes above and beyond to make sure those receiving assistance are treated with dignity. Pat & Ray Williams

The huge effort required to pick up foods, assemble and distribute for Thanksgiving and Christmas. These two special efforts are in addition to the regular daily distributions that must be maintained.

I'm one of the newer volunteers at the Lord's Pantry of Downingtown and I have to say that I've been totally impressed with the number of people that this organization serves and the wonderful spirit of the people who donate their time to assist. During this holiday season, it has been amazing to see the number of families who have received Thanksgiving dinners and Holiday gifts due to the generosity of the organization's supporters. With the current state of the economy, and the growing number of people in need, this organization is more important than ever and is deserving of your support.

I am so grateful for the Lord's Pantry. They are always there to help in anyway that they can. In the summertime when I was blessed to help my sister with her childern while she was in rehab, the lord's pantry helped me out with food. They never ever judged me or my family. If it wasn't for the pantry I don't know where my family would be at today. It did come to a point where it was food or rent. But thanks to the pantry, I always know that I can make it month to month. I have been really sick this past year and Jan and her crew where there to ask how I was and they were able to allow my mother to pick up my food. I can't wait until I am back on my feet so that I can give back to the Lord's Pantry. I want to thank GOD and everyone for their blessing and understanding of those in need. Thanks to the community for all their help in keeping the pantry open. Also I want to thank everyone who had helped out with the gifts for the childern for christmas. Thanks to you I am able to make christmas a little better this year.

When I retired in April, I found I needed some volunteer work to fill my time. I stopped in at The Lord's Pantry and immediately felt at home. The organization began about 40 years ago, as a small service within a local church. Today it has grown to a food bank that services over 700 families each month. The clients are treated with genuine kindness, warmth and respect. Over 100 volunteers give of their time each month to stock the pantry and pick up donated food. There are also special distributions during the year; ie, Easter, Back to School Supplies, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Due to the present economic times, and the struggles that some of our community members of are experiencing, it is very rewarding to know that I can help those that are less fortunate.
