Long Beach BLAST is an amazing organization that through college student Mentoring and role modeling, it gives some of our areas toughest kids a chance to bridge the gap from the inner city to entering college, trade or technical school. Sadly so of these kids feel that they are excluded from society, but when a college student shows them that they can plan to enter college and acheive whatever they want, it can lead their lives into an entirely new direction! Once their new goals are established they see a new vision and use education at the great equalizer. What an amazing place; I am very proud to be a part of it.

Long Beach BLAST is a wonderful organization that I am familiar with and love. Although the staff is very small (7 1/2 full-time employees) BLAST manages to do many wonderful things with the little money they get. They touch many children's lives through mentoring, and they touch the lives of the mentors, too, many of whom say what started out as a simple extra credit or assignment has become an experience that they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
