I have been volunteering for 4-5 years and have seen this organization grow and continue to have a meaningful impact the lives of the homeless in Pittsburgh. My personal experiences and the commitment and passion of the staff led me to begin a reoccurring donation to the ministry. The Ministry does not simply address physical needs - rather they seek to love the homeless just as they are and build relationships that show them the transformative power of Christ. One of the most memorable volunteer days that I attended was when I helped one of the Project L.I.F.E participants move into permanent housing - Evidence that this holistic approach truly helps transform lives.

Review from Guidestar
February 7, 2012

I have volunteered with Living Ministry for a little more than a year now, and it has been one of the most fulfilling, life-changing experiences I have ever had the opportunity to do. I spend most of my volunteer time serving in shelters alongside Living Ministry staff, where we work together to orchestrate Bible studies or book clubs for the people who join us at the shelters. I am blessed to see first-hand how these Bible studies help the people were serving, and I can see how much having our friendship in their lives is helping them gain the confidence and skills they need. My favorite thing about Living Ministry is that they go beyond simply meeting the needs of the homeless. Instead, they focus on meeting their basic human need of friendship and companionship, which in my opinion changes lives far more than a meal. Through the weekly shelter visits, I have been able to grow so close to some of the people I have met in the shelters, and I'm thrilled to say that I have seen this companionship strengthening not only their lives, but also my own. Living Ministry is a fantastic organization that truly lives out their purpose of showing God's love to the people of Pittsburgh.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my life, and the lives I see us touching. So many people that I have worked with through Living Ministries have drastically improved their lives since I first met them. I was first-hand able to see the massive changes this organization is making in our city, and within my own life through associating with them.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

If I could suggest one change it would be to host even more outreach events. This growing agency has so much talent and is capable of making such an impact on the Pittsburgh area, that I look forward to seeing them take even greater advantage of that opportunity in the future.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

The only thing that would improve my volunteer experience would be to have more opportunities for volunteers, and delegating more responsibilities to them in various ministry events.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

My work with Living Ministry has not only helped me gain confidence in the work I'd like to pursue in the future, but it has also taught me how to have extreme patience and love with anyone I may be working with. These, along with the other benefits I have received from the ministry, are limitless in my opinion.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Each time I volunteer with Living Ministry I leave with a great feeling of self-worth, knowing that I can make even the smallest difference in a person's life. It also leaves me with immense motivation to continue working to aide the homeless of Pittsburgh and of the world.

I started volunteering at the ministry in 2009. Back in the days, I helped at job fairs for homeless, ALIVE (the clothing give away), and attended Bible study at the shelters.

LIVING Ministry isn't the most organized and large NPO I'v been volunteering at. But it is honest, everything is
transparent, and everyone in the ministry shares the same vision: that is serving the homeless to glorify our Lord Jesus. I enjoyed spending time with the ministers at the ministry and homeless at the shelters. They taught me how to carry my candle into the darkness, to serve those who are frustrated and hopeless.

I joined the ministry as a full time employee in 2010. I don’t know if I am allowed to write this review, but I treasured the time when I was a ministry volunteer.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

-I came closer to God and experience spiritual growth. -Knowing the life of homelessness. -Have compassion to the lost souls.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I hope more people are aware of this organization. The organization should have more advertisements and talk at different churches.
