Little Helping Hands

My children and I have been volunteering with Little Helping Hands from its beginning. I cannot tell you how much volunteering with LHH has affected my young boys lives and our family's overall. The activities are always very well-organized, age-appropriate, and fun for all involved while at the same time helping out the community. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved!

I can't brag enough about Little Helping Hands. Not only is it a fabulous way to teach young children about community service, but it also provides us with quality, fun family activities. Our family has had so much fun volunteering through Little Helping Hands. I wanted my children (age 3&6) to learn the importance of helping others at a young age. LHH gives us a chance as a family to give back and show our kids this important lesson. We appreciate the opportunity and always have fun.

This is an amazing organization. I think every big city should have one. I am a first time stay it home mom of three small boys. I had previously worked full time and worked year round. This past summer I decided not to work and the boys were going to stay home. I was trying to find activities that would keep them busy. I also thought volunteering would be great. In trying to find things to do I found this great organization. They realize that little hands can do BIG things. My boys look forward to the activities and are able to communicate what there impact is doing. We really feel like we are making a great impact. The best part ( the ice cream award is great) is seeing the impact they have on the world. My one son received the community award at school. My other little guy helped pick up trash at a local park without being asked. This is an organization that helps are family show are children that everyone can help. I cannot say enough of the impact this organization has had on our family. We just moved to Austin and this is my favorite part of living this city. I think that says a lot.

There are so few opportunities available for young children to volunteer. I feel fortunate to have found an organization like LHH that appreciates the enthusiasm and abilities of those under 10 years old to help others. As a family, we have worked at Goodwill to help disassemble computers. My children enjoy the activity, they ask questions, and they are developing an understanding of charity and commitment -- and maybe an interest in technology!
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Goodwill puts people to work! The computer parts are able to be sold as-is or as part of another computer, which helps Goodwill fulfill its mission.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Offer more opportunities to volunteer, particularly for working parents (evenings/weekends).
Little Helping Hands teaches children about giving back in a fun environment. We assembled food for a pantry that gives to the working poor and the homeless. I believe it is so important for those who have to give back and it is never to young to understand this concept. We had a great time and plan to do it on a regular basis.

Hire more people to help the administrators take on more opportunities. Right now the volunteer demand exceeds supply but these two wonderful women can't be everywhere to oversee every project.
Little Helping Hands is a top notch organization. They offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for parents and children to do together. The website and sign up process are clear and concise. The volunteer activities are age appropriate, efficiently organized and show children that they can make a difference in our community despite their youth.

LHH is a fabulous way to help teach children from an early age that helping others is a rewarding experience. We just did our first LHH activity, and it was a fun afternoon for my daughter and me. We are looking forward to many more activities with LHH as we learn about ourselves and the world outside of our 4 walls.

Volunteerism has been a big part of my life, but after having a family it was difficult to find activities that we could participate in as a family. It's great to share the joy of helping someone else with your kids!

This organization does a FABULOUS job of keeping the activities appropriate for children. There is nothing I would change.
My eight year old daughter and I volunteered through Little Helping Hands in Austin, Texas for the first time this weekend. What a rewarding experience! My daughter met some great kids and really enjoyed packaging baby formula for children in need. The volunteer coordinators are so organized and made everyone feel comfortable and welcome in the group. We plan to do many more community service projects through Little Helping Hands in the future!
