I came to Lilburn Cooperative Ministry, Inc. needing assistance and from the very first phonecall, I cringed because their receptionist was incredibly rude. It's tough when you're in a bad situation needing help; 211 refers you to a nonprofit such as Lilburn Cooperative Ministry, Inc. and suddenly your entire situation begins to feel worse because of how they treat you. I was so dissappointed in the way that they treated me over the phone. It was like they were talking down to me.

When I arrived in-person for assistance, I was greeted by an extremely rude receptionist who would seemed to take pride in talking down to other clients especially those who could not speak English. This receptionist was so rude and would start fights with other clients. I don't understand why anyone would have a non-profit organization setup to help people yet contribute to stress by starting fights, yelling, and having fun doing it. It was a fiasco involving constant yelling by their staff member, and surprisingly it was allowed. It's really sick to me. I really wish more sites/organizations like Great Nonprofits existed so that others with first-hand knowledge can write reviews because this organization in particular like many others need to change their ways. I can only speak for my experience in dealing with Lilburn Cooperative Ministry.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would hire caring individuals who want to make a difference and show it through their interactions with clients. I would terminate the staff who don't show a caring attitude towards other people who come to their organization looking for help. If they can't manage to do this, I would have their organization removed from the 211-United Way Listing.
