I have been a participant, a volunteer and a fundraiser. I have seen first hand the benefit that is provided to so many. I have witnessed adults, minors and senior citizens benefit....Gay, straight, male, female, alike. I know the monies donated are highly leveraged by the tremendous volunteers that make up The LifeGroup LA!
That is why I ride:
I have seen first hand how those affected on so many levels are provided comfort and understanding that they never knew existed. This is why I volunteer and donate. I also know that this group is VERY careful with how they spend the money they are given!
The LifeGroup was one of the first places I found when I was newly diagnosed in 2008. Although many people felt then, and still now that it's no big deal, believe me it is. There is still huge stigma, people still do die, and information and resources are extremely scattered. It was the LifeGroup that empowered me through the initial weekend where to find answers to my questions and where to find hope for my fears. Staying involved as a volunteer since then has helped me remain at a higher spiritual vibration because the group walks the walk. Everyone involved is at their highest level of compassion when representing and moreover even when they're not. The group changes lives, and while many non profits do great work, very few can say they transform people and then promise to be there for them no matter what. HIV is still scary and still with us at times in worse ways than before. The LifeGroup LA is a group that understands this and welcomes anyone affected in any way and from any walk of life.
It has been my honor volunteering for the Life Group LA. Knowing that I played a small part in changing lives for the better, and empowering people through knowledge and support, has been very fulfilling.
I've been volunteering for almost 2 years now and everytime is a great experience. I have never been to a place with such love and acceptance. I would of never thought of being part of such a great organization!
What this organization does is nothing short of amazing. I have seen lives transformed over the course of just a weekend over and over. It is so refreshing to see and organization that has no other goal than to give everything they can to those in need. The presentations are top notch at their seminars and the loving compassion that every volunteer brings is rare to see. What is great about them also is that everything is authentic and nothing feels forced or fake. I wish that every person would get the experience of attending one of their weekends!
I first went though one of TLGLA Poz Life Weekends about 5 years ago. I was such a wonderful and transforming experience! Since then I have volunteered and have been able to see countless others experience this compassionate and non-judgemental weekend.
TlGLA has changed the minds hearts and souls of thousands over the past decade to those living with or affected by HIV. As a volunteer I have had the opportunity to be a part of the magic of loving compassion that oir clients so desperately need and benefit from. This is by far one of the best non profit organizations in LA! Here's to the next decade!!!!
Life Group came along in my life when I was surrounded by loving friends, an accepting family, and understanding clients...and still I felt alone in my new diagnosis of HIV.
Soon after my HIV Positive diagnosis I found the Poz Life Weekend Seminar. The safe space, unconditional love, and informative seminars set me on a path of healing and acceptance.
Six years later, I am a volunteer with this life changing, inspiring organization and continue to feel the ripples of love, acceptance, and honesty.
At the recommendation of another member in my weekly HIV+ support group, I attended a one-day seminar provided by The life Group LA in Pasadena. I was so impressed by the presenters, and more importantly the organization and their mission, I attended their much touted quarterly POZ Life seminar. The experience cannot be described accurately in words. The compassionate environment provides a safe, loving, non-judgmental approach, commitment to a supportive weekend, and truly an enlightening adventure one must attend to fully grasp the experience. I was so excited I became an active volunteer, and praise the committed giving of all involved. As a non-profit we accept no government funding and therefore rely primarily on our fundraising events engineered by Executive Director Sunnie Rose Berger, the committed presenters, and the many volunteers for their tireless dedication to those infected and affected buy HIV.
I have been volunteering for the Life Group and people they are serving for more than six years. Why? Because of its mission. Mission and commitment to provide education and support for people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS. The Life Group Los Angeles offers them life tools…so they can live their life healthily. The Life Group and all volunteers work with a family concept. We take care of each other and we take care of our clients.
