Mission: LIFE ElderCare’s mission is to empower seniors to live with independence AND interdependence by nourishing mind, body and spirit.

Results: Each year, LIFE provides approximately 105,000 meals, 5,700 trips, 4,260 visiting hours, 80 minor home modifications, and prevents countless injurious falls in the elderly.

Target demographics: isolated, frail elders without sufficient support at home; by providing fresh, healthy meals, well checks, friendly visitors, in-home fall prevention, and door-through-door transportation.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 1,120 elders

Geographic areas served: Alameda County

Programs: Meals on Wheels - volunteer drivers deliver daily hot, nutritious meals to over 350 frail homebound seniors, Monday – Friday bringing frozen for the weekend. FREE Friendly Visitors - pairs isolated seniors with volunteers that provide companionship in their preferred language through weekly visits, phone calls, and outings. Includes a culturally sensitive subprogram for LGBT elders. FREE VIP Rides - links older adults and persons with disabilities who have no one else to help, with volunteers to accompany & assist them when traveling with to medical appointments, grocery shopping and errands. Includes destination assistance for those who are blind, cognitively impaired, frail etc. FREE Falls Prevention - provides supportive and collaborative in-home exercise, home safety assessment, minor home modification, and medication review. In my work, I interact with quite a few non-profit organizations in Fremont and the greater SF Bay Area, so see quite a lot of "behind-the-scenes" activity. It is a pleasure partnering with the LEC team in their marketing efforts -- the Executive Director, staff, and Board are all committed to serving our community in the best way possible. Their professionalism, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and communication skills all go a long way toward making the organization as efficient as possible, with the greatest focus on delivering much-needed services, to those who benefit most from them. In comparison to other organizations, I really feel this is one of the best in our community, with a long-standing track record of commitment to excellence and true service of value.
