Address:

PO Box 1316 Tijeras NM 87059 USA

Mission:

The mission of Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico is to rescue, rehabilitate and place for adoption small companion dogs. Our goal is to place these dogs in loving, forever homes and to do this through a rigorous screening and adoption process. We operate strictly through volunteerism, counting on the generosity of others and of ourselves to further our mission.

Results:

As a network of caring foster homes where our dogs are temporarily homed and socialized, and not kenneled, we screen applicants so that our dogs will be accepted by the adopting family. We collaborate with other state-wide rescues to save New Mexico dogs that come from many sources: animal shelters, owner surrenders, and actual abusive situations. In 2015 we rescued 440 dogs. Since 2001, we have saved thousands of New Mexico shelter dogs.

Target demographics:

save New Mexico Shelter Dogs

Direct beneficiaries per year:

389 rescued dogs - by successfully adopting them into loving forever homes. 440 in total rescued in 2015.

Geographic areas served:

Albuqerque, New Mexico

Reviews for Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico

For 15 years I have fostered for Lap Dog Rescue, this nonprofit rescue consistently runs a very well organized, well managed organization. The welfare of the animal is intensely focused on. This rescue has a very long track record of integrity, dedication and many of the fosters have been with Lap Dog for many years. In the age of big nonprofits that have a lot of overhead, Lap Dog runs a tight ship with ethics and a protocol that all volunteers follow. This is a rescue with a long history of experience, compassion and because Lap Dog has a good number of dedicated volunteers and fosters, event planners, making it one of the best examples of a volunteer, non profit that remains steadfast and stable.

I have worked with Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico for over 10 years. In a day of questionable charities in the news, it is with full endorsement that I can say that LDRNM is a solid, well run, ethical and dependable nonprofit. They work tirelessly to help end the suffering of small dogs throughout our state.
They tend to have very dedicated and long term fosters and local businesses that promote their dogs and adoption clinics. This rescue has a very good standing in our community and their reputation is well earned and deserved.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

None come to mind.

Best rescue we have fostered for by far. The dedication Lap Dog has to save as many dogs is amazing. They rescued our little Luna, an Airedale terrier! at 4 weeks old, and cared for her for three years until she was healthy enough to be adopted, by us! And Comet is getting the same care, a paralyzed dog who needs several surgeries to make him more mobile and happy! I am honored to be affiliated with them.

LDRNM saves hundreds of dogs a year. As a foster family we have been able to care for 100 dogs to date, and I get to keep in contact with some of the families. Other rescues I have worked with fosters have no say... Plus, we got our Luna from them and they are a huge support for us with her!

I have had the pleasure of being involved with this rescue group as a foster. From the President to the organizers to the more experienced fosters, they are all kind hearted, caring, helpful and really work well together to make this organization great. We all respect and love these animals from day one and try to help them gain their dignity back to find them wonderful homes.
I couldn't have joined a better organization.

I volunteer for Lapdog and think they are the best! Finding the right family for the right dog is such a priority for this rescue. Even though they are a smaller organization with a limited budget, they try and help special needs and seniors too. I am so proud to be associated with this wonderful group and the big difference they make in saving lives.

They have helped so many animals from all over New Mexico. They have taken dogs that I have found that need help and they do everything in their power to find every dog the right home. They are a far superior rescue!

An excellent group comprised totally of committed volunteers! I 've been priveledged to be a part of this Wonderful Non Profit Organization for a year now, and the experience has changed my life! We work on rescuing small dogs from high kill shelters, owner surrenders and training them to be highly adoptable dogs. The success rate of finding these dogs furever homes is, i think, 100%! Its a real priveledge to b a part of LapDog Rescue NM !

Lap dog rescue blessed me with Gidget, a deaf pug that I just adore!!!!❤. She came to me just after I lost my Winston pug man, and she rescued me right back. Thank you for all you do for our fur babies and US! I am hoping to find another pug that needs a forever home, as we both need one more to be complete. ❤❤❤ great work saving lives...like mine!

Lapdogrescue is an incredible organization of dedicated people. I have just recently adopted my second pup from them. These people truly care about the dogs they place in homes. The personal time and love they show in their humanitarian efforts are so apparent. What a great group of people doing great work. Cheers to all of them.

I've volunteered for many canine organizations over the last twenty years. As a foster care provider for Lap Dog for the last year, I can attest that this group of people is remarkable. Every single person is dedicated to the well-being of the dogs and finding them the families they deserve. I enjoy the positive atmosphere, too - no drama! Brian does a good job letting people play to their strengths, all in the name of taking care of the dogs who need help.
