I never thought that I would like working like this with computers. But when a family friend convinced me to try out Kramden, I absolutely loved it! My first day I awarded the computers to students that deserved them, and after seeing their faces light up I was inspired to volunteer a second time. I then worked on actually building up a computer and it has taught me more than years of computer use ever has. Thank you Kramden! You're a wonderful organization that deserves recognition.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping me develop a greater intereset in technology and computer science.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

suggest having permanent volunteers more closely monitor the progress of inexperienced volunteers. For example, assigning someone who knows more about computers to sit next to someone who doesn't know as much.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

Definitely

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

A lot

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Very Well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

Definitely

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

more help when I need it from an experienced "geek"

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

I met some great people, and learned a lot about computers!

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

I felt accomplished at the end, and very smart for knowing how to replace a motherboard without breaking the computer...

I have volunteered at Kramden and have enjoyed the experience immensely. As I am not a computer "tech" it is great that they have opportunities for everyone no matter what your background is.

As computers are essential, it is fantastic that these computers go to a home that needs them...so much better than a landfill! The last time I volunteered I was giving the refurbished computers to the awardees and it was evident to me that the computer was going to help the whole family out.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

observing that the computer was going to help the whole family out and not just the awardee

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

no changes that I can think of right now.

I had a great time working at Kramden. Even though, I know little about computers other volunteers were really willing to help me out so that I could work at all the stations. The staff there is really nice and I love that all the computers we worked on were being given to local student who were doing well in school. I really recommend volunteering at Kramden.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

making friends and working towards giving computers

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

As a Board Member of Kramden Institute since its initial setup, I have seen tremendous growth of this organization with well over 4,000 volunteers, including many local Geeks from high school age to seniors having a place to ply their craft while helping thousands of kids in need.Kramden pulls together a surplus of PCs headed for recycling and extends their useful lives by a few years while getting them into the homes of students who cannot afford computers. It is a win-win. In addition to Kramden's amazing awardees, all chosen because of their hard work in school, Kramden has amazing volunteers, meeting every week at the Wednesday worknights and monthly at our Geek-A-Thon and other activities and bringing tremendous energy to the organization. A volunteer management team of about 15 'supergeeks' and a small core staff run the show. This organization, now having passed 7,250 PCs donated to deserving schoolkids, uses almost all of its resources on its programs, not on a large staff (we only have 3 paid employees) and overhead. BRAVO

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the awardees and their families as their new home computers are demonstrated and set up. Wow.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Seek public funding. We have not done that in our first 7 years...
