KCHS changed from a no-kill cat shelter to an aggressive kill agency on 1/1/10. All of the former humane goals have been abandoned. KCHS' publicly stated policy, aired at KCHS meetings and supported by KCHS ' Board of Directors, is to kill all ferals, strays, ill cats as well as nursing mothers/kittens. Fat cats or "ugly" cats receive the same treatment. This is not a cat friendly organization. In 2011, 5,342 cats were taken into what is the size of a double wide trailer with a basement. Since there only a few paid employees, and fewer volunteers, how many of these cats lived to be placed? We will never know since there ares NO statistics other than the intake number. A request for adoption statistics was refused, not even a ballpark percentage number would be given. KCHS has an "open door" policy which results in the deaths of thousand of cats every year while claiming to be no-kill. Beware!
