Kitty Committee is an all volunteer organization that improves the lives of hundreds of homeless cats each year. They assist park rangers who find orphaned kittens on ocean beaches by providing foster care, veterinary services and loving homes. They help cat caregivers who lack the funds to provide food or medical care to their colonies. They provide training and equipment to enable local cat lovers to provide the best possible care to feral colonies in their own neighborhoods. They provide support to a local rescue center for FIV- positive cats. The Committee educates school children and the general public on the prevention of cat overpopulation and management of existing colonies.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... reducing cat overpopulation in my county. I've seen formerly feral kitties adopted out to loving homes. I've seen many cats receive veterinary services that enable to live longer and healthier lives.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... The complete dedication of its director, board and volunteers in improving the lives of the less fortunate creatures that live here. Every penny that is donated goes directly to supporting the cats.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... warm, loving and committed to making a difference in our community. They share their passion with others through education outreach, responding to advice requests, and direct financial assistance when necessary.
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... public misunderstanding of the most humane ways to manage feral cat colonies that address human and political concerns, while allowing the cats to long and healthy lives.
I was a Volunteer & I have created newsletters, flyers, donation box labels as well as ongoing email networking for rescue, fostering and adoption.

Kitty Committee's is a small northern California nonprofit established in 2001 in west Sonoma County. Its mission is to help feral cats live healthier lives by trapping, neutering and returning them to their colonies for daily maintenance by caretakers. When adobtable, homes are found. Equipment loans, advice and financial aid are also offered. Kitty Committee's donations all go directly to the cats in the form of food, medicine and shelter.

The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... prevention of large breeding colonies by immediate attention to trpping and neutering.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the complete dedication of its director, Laura Comyns.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... dedicated, intelligent, resourceful and hardworking.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... change the entire county's feral and abandoned cat problem.
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... irresponsibility on the part of animal "owners."
