I did the Fullpower class in 2006 and that experience changed my life! Since 2007, I'm a volunteer with the organization in Montreal as an assistant. I saw so many people taking their power back. It's simply amazing what Kidpower do in the world now. :)

I discovered Kidpower 4 years ago while looking for a way to keep my preschooler safe as she began exploring the world independently. I had been hesitant to talk to her about safety because I didn't want to scare her. Kidpower gave me the tools to teach her how to be aware of her surroundings and make choices to keep herself safe. And she loved practicing the skills!

We continue to learn age appropriate skills to help her stay safe as she gets older. Thanks Kidpower!

Such a powerful message, and SO MUCH FUN! I wanted a way to talk with my 4 year old daughter about personal safety. She was getting to the age that she wasn't always near me at the park or the grocery store. I found Kidpower's articles and comic books online and began practicing role playing with her. She loved it so much that she will pull down the comics herself and ask to practice again! I hear and see her using the skills all the time. Thank you Kidpower! I will certainly use this with my son when he gets old enough to walk away!

As a mother, I see that practicing with my kids is far more efficient than telling them a hundred times how to keep safe. This is what Kidpower is offering to kids all over the world. There is a Kidpower workshop close to your home and if not, build it. Since I've joined the Kidpower training, I've met great people in a team with a unique diversity how are helping me developing a new center in Paris, France.

I have been a part of this organization for over 15 years and one thing that sticks out is that this is an organization that continually wants to develop and grow on so many levels. Not just by working to reach as many people as possible with important skills, but also by constantly developing the program so it is always as updated and effective as possible.

The first time I saw a Kidpower class I thought "Wow! This is something very unique". I had seen very many workshops for empowering women through self-defense but NOTHING like this! It is not only what is being taught but they way it is being taught that is so well thought through, compassionate and very empowering!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

On the many faces of people praticipating in the workshops.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make it more available to more people.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the wonderful people involved in the organization and the amazing amount of good these people do with very little funds.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, compassionate, powerful and loving indvividuals!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do a lot!

Ways to make it better...

Kidpower was able to reach more people alla around the world.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

how to be able to reach more people!

One thing I'd also say is that...

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

I'm a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has also trained as a Kidpower instructor. I work with many children who need mental healthcare at least in part because of their experiences of not being emotionally or physically safe - through bullying, abuse, or other harm. I hope that by teaching Kidpower skills I can help future children live happier, healthier lives. The skills Kidpower teaches are valuable and practical. The way Kidpower operates is consistent with the values they espouse (which seems a rarity to me). As well as teaching young people and adults Kidpower skills in my professional life, I use Kidpower skills every day with my own kids. I would recommend it to anyone.

As an academic, I'm trained to be a bit of a skeptic. Kidpower is a developmental, age appropriate, skill based training with demonstrated effectiveness. To me these are basic requirements for any children's educational program. Kidpower meets or exceeds these expectations. What distinguishes Kidpower is the palpable human centered Values that drive the non-profit's purpose and passion. Care, integrity, fun, respect, inclusion, love for kids. Attend a training and you just feel the Kidpower difference. Stay and you'll watch the kids having so much fun they forget they are learning safety rules.

I came from Australia to train with Kidpower and the organisation still completely exceeded my expectations! I haven't found anyone like them! They approach learning with passion and compassion and are committed to helping all individuals acquire skills to protect themselves and others. They draw on a comprehensive program of evidence based practical skills and 25 years of experience to deliver an amazing range of teaching. Kidpower really makes a difference by engaging individuals to empower themselves with positive safety skills in a fun environment.

Kidpower has given me fantastic tools to use as both a medical social worker and a parent. The organization is infused with respect, kind-heartedness, and a commitment to excellence. I often find myself quoting key principles like “problems should not have to be secrets” … even to adult friends! Really solid concepts to live by. Thanks, Kidpower!
