I'm a single mother of 7. I lived in Israel 28 yrs and needed help when I married off my daughter. I wouldn't been able to do it without Devora Benjamin's help. (entered by GreatNonprofits staff member on behalf of reviewer)

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

These are hard times financially and they've helped a lot of people

More feedback...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Devora Benjamin handled EVERYTHING from top to bottom - On time! Unreal - she was organized, friendly, courteous, and made us feel at ease during everything! (entered by GreatNonprofits staff member on behalf of reviewer)

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

not feeling once like an insignificant due to the fact that we were very low on funds and needed the organization to begin with!!

I am a make-up artist that often work with this organization (offering special rates!) so I am present from the beginning of the day until the start of the reception. I saw anything taken care of ranging from emergency repair of the bride gown zipper; parents of brides and groom often coming from out of town and unfamiliar with the surroundings getting suddenly sick a few hours before the wedding and having to be taken to local physician for emergency treatment; enabling to be present to the wedding; brides and grooms with split families not even talking to each other brought all together for the sake of the bride and groom... The people its served and helped and the impact on the community; nobody have to postpone to get married just because financial considerations and lack of family in setting up a wedding reception

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Try to clone its founder

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Honestly- down to heart help. -genuine will to help people -extreme problem solving (with a smile) skills -total experience much beyond the physical technicality (often very trying) that can happen on a wedding day - often people need major moral support

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

(cont. from above)if don't have a family, or a dysfunctional or a non supportive one and there are thousands of pactical etail that people are not even aware of, or not able to carry through! staff were... friendly, courteous, efficient, competent

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Help many more stable families to be formed and take many more families out of debt - great asset to society!

Ways to make it better...

They can hire more help, like a driver to chauffeur the family around, sponsor more of the necessity of the day for all the family (make-up, wedding outfits etc)

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of funds

One thing I'd also say is that...

keep up the good work!

As a teenager, I was involved with the KSCVK organization as a volunteer. I have allways found the work Devorah and her staff do unbelievable! I didn't realize the extent of her amazing work until I myself got engaged. I am the youngest of a large family. My parents did not have the funds to pay for the "brides" portion of the festivities. My husband is from california, therefore, his family did not know anything about making a wedding in New York. Devora took care of our engagement party and our wedding with great attention to every detail. She made the splitting of the funds that both sides respectively are responsible for go smoothly... even though my portion was being funded by the organization. She ran the wedding superbly. Also, the fact that it was a service being provided out of charity, was not noticable at all!!!

with a son-in-law who just became an orphan & our finances down the drain, Devorah helped us not only financially, but also with directions and contacts to make the wedding a beautiful and not-to-stressful experience. she had suggestions and information for the special needs of some of the guests, expalined the best for the financial situation and supplied for most all of the finances that either side were unable to. (i don't know how she was able to do it, but i am glad that she did) she was there and hands on from the beginning until the cleaning crew. we can't thank her enough May G-d bless her & her family for all the self-sacrifice she continues to do!! i hope & wish i will be financially able to support her work.

Devorah Benjamin helped with our son and now daughter-in-law's lechayim and wedding. We are not frum and are from out of town so were advised to turn to Devorah for help and advice. She made all the planning so easy and painless and recommended trusted vendors who were able to give us discounted pricing. No matter how busy Devorah was, she always returned phone calls and e-mails immediately (often during a wedding where she was working) to answer our questions and offer assurance. No question was ever too silly, no worry was ever too trivial - she addressed them all patiently. Devorah works tirelessly and selflessly and despite the many demands on her time, she always made us feel like we were her only concern. At our children's wedding, she was coordinator, traffic cop, personal assistant, advisor, consultant, friend, and angel. Thanks to Devorah, their wedding went off without a hitch - everything was beautiful and none of our guests would have known where she was able to shave costs. Thank you Devorah, we are indebted to you!
