I've been going to this museum since I was a child and the changes over the years have been phenomenal. It's a great place and for a town the size of Maysville, it's a real gem.

The Great!
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... always friendly and helpful.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... do even more outreach to the community, especially to school children and teach them more about local history.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... funds to support it. They want to bring in travelling exhibits and send the staff to different museum conferences, and the money is just not there. A real shame.

This museum snuggled in the downtown area of Maysville, Kentucky is a treasure to all who visit. The miniature collection, one of the finest in the world, is breathtaking. No matter how many times I visit the collection, I always find an item I have overlooked. The museum boasts an overall collection that is outstanding. I love it - it is my passion! Come and share the excitement as it continues to grow.

The Great!
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the passion to make sure it is here in years to come.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... financial. It is harder and harder each day to sustain the increasing costs. the museum needs more corporate and individuals donors as well as major fund raising events.

I have found the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center to be a superb facility and history center for Kentucky. It's research library is top notch and they have a wealth of information. The employees are all very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. There are terrific changing exhibits and a world class miniatures exhibit. The Museum Scouts and other children's programs are a great educational experience for the young people. The whole museum is quite an asset and jewel for the area. Anyone who visits will have a truly great day. The Museum has many items and exhibits that rival museums in much larger cities in the world.

The Great!

  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... very knowledgeable, helpful, and happy to assist.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... bring in more educational exhibits for the community and surrounding area.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... having enough funds to have all of the wonderful exhibits that offered.

What a wonderful asset KGMC is for the community and the state of Kentucky. I have only been a member for a few years but have come to appreciate the museum and all it has to offer recently. There is a vast amount of research information available and the local historical artifacts is wonderful. The miniatures gallery is a gem all by itself!

The Great!

  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... continue to obtain interesting exhibits without limitations of resources needed through private donations.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... finding the resources needed to offer quality exhibits that will bring return visitors.

Not sure why I got an email to write a review. I have only been to this museum 4 times---it should have only been three but no one could answer my questions or fax or email me the answer So I had to make a special trip. Also, I have been all over this country doing research and the prices they charge for pictures to use in publications is just outrageous. They wanted $100 to use a couple photos--I found them at a different historical society and was charged $20.

The Great!
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Knowledgeable
Ways to make it better!
  • If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… Change their prices on rights to use photos.
