This is an amazing organization. I have been working with them for an entire year. Their passion and energy for their mission is unmatched. Every month they tirelessly match 3 or 4 service personnel suffering from PTSD with a specially trained dog - often rescued from a shelter. With a lot of hard work, a lot of love, and a good sense of humor the healing takes hold. The soldiers train on-site for 3 weeks and are well taken care of by "Mom" Shari, her staff , family, and her incredible volunteers. Graduates are constantly reporting back how much their lives are changed.

This sight is full of information for both a service dog handler team military friends and families, and the general public. I was extremely pleased to find this site... as a disabled Vet with a service fog, Lilly, it is nice to find a place where I feel known! Thumbs & Paws Up!

I owe K9s For Warriors a huge debt, if it was not for them I would not be here today. Since having Slider my service dog my family and my quality of life has been life-changing. These folks care for the Veterans and follow up with them after. It is like having a second family. I now get out and do things with my family, instead of sitting in a room by my self playing solitarie with a deck of 51, locking my family, friend and the world out. Thank you so much K9s.

I happen to be a wounded soldier, was shot in the head and blown up a few times. If it weren't for this organization and what they do for us, I would be in a really bad place in my life. Before meeting them, Brett, Todd and the "Boss" Shari, my family were basically shut off from the world because of me. I never left the house unless for Dr appointments. The house is always locked up, blinds closed in darkness. Not only did they save me, I believe they saved my marriage. I am here at the Wounded Warrior Battalion in Ft Benning, they have helped others that are here as well. If it wasn't for them I would probably be one of the "accidental death" statistics. I and my family truly feel they are Family. Thank you K9s for Warriors for everything you do. I would gladly fight the good fight with you. Love and miss you guys. God bless, never quit, and continue to never leave a comrade behind.

K9s for warriors has changed my life. Before Chauncey, I could barely leave my house without my husband. I couldn't attend my childrens school functions. I couldn't even get through the grocery store without a panic attack. Since I was partnered with Chauncey, I have returned to school and recently started working part time at the local VA hospital. Chauncey and K9s for Warriors has literally changed my life!

I am President of K9s For Warriors. In 15 months we have served 41 Warriors. Some are Veterans, some are active duty. All are heroes and have served in combat duty. Our Warriors all have in common suffering from post traumatic stress. They want and need help, and do not want to be medicated to resolve their nightmares, panic attacks, blackouts, anxiety, depression, isolation. Service canines, properly trained, are a profound alternative for recovery from PTSD. We have been honored to serve these brave men and women that have given this Country so much. There is no charge for our service, it is our duty, honor and privilege. For three weeks our warriors live at our facility where they train and learn to renter civilian life again with dignity and independence. We are a small charity doing huge work, and making a difference. Our Men and Women of our Military fought for our tomorrows, we fight for theirs. Respectfully, Shari Duval. www.k9sforwarriors.org

As a dog lover with a personal interest in serving veterans with PTSD, this volunteer opportunity can't be beat! As a member of the "K9s Army", I've experienced an immediate connection to a group of people who are passionate in their determination to make a difference in veterans lives. There's a variety of volunteer opportunities, from playing with the great rescue dogs awaiting their warriors, to working at fund raising events, to preparing meals and cleaning. K9s for Warriors appreciates their volunteers and makes us feel that we are an important part of their success.

K9s for Warriors gave me the tools to take back my life. I had locked myself in the house for almost 4 years because of PTSD and fear of people and crowds. It was easier to stay home and mail order everything than it was to go outside. In November 2011, I knew I needed to get help so I Googled "service dog training in Jacksonville, FL" and K9s for Warriors came up. I read their page and it was as if they were talking to me. It was hard to leave the house to go to training at first, but each day I got a little stronger. I now go shopping with my dog, Lola, and volunteer at K9s for Warriors to say thank you. To say this organization had life-changing effect on me is an understatement.

K9s for Warriors help our returning soldiers deal with PTSD. The organization trains and pairs the dogs with our soldiers, then provides more team training for them so they can get on with their civilian life. I think this is a very valuable organization & it seems the least we can do for our warriors and their families that have already given so much.
