Mission:

Just Lovin’ Music Studios, Inc.’ mission is to inspire, motivate and energize through music education.  We firmly believe that schools without music education are at risk of bringing up a generation of children without emotional, spiritual and cultural development, which music provides. Our program is designed to bring together students from different social, economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds. Our program provides a constructive, positive alternative for potentially at-risk youth, instead of violence, drugs and on-street activities.

Programs:

JLMS is making it possible for private, public and charter schools to bring music programs, particularly instrumental instruction, back into the school curriculum.  Our 4 objectives are:  Improve academic performance, restoration of music in schools, social improvement and cultural awareness. We customize the programs to fit the school's curriculum or afterschool programs. Our instrumental programs include teachers, instruments, books, supplies, school liaisons and performance recitals. Our curriculum includes: Instrument technique, note reading, sight reading, music theory, ear training, music appreciation, music history, pillars of poise, and performance skills.

I enjoy the personal touch that I feel comes from the JLMS staff. My teacher is wonderful and I sometimes feel that she has more faith in me, than I myself. However, since I am a young adult and have self-elected to take piano classes, it is ultimately up to me to dedicate myself and practice, practice, practice.. The school/studio is amazing!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my growth as a piano student.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

probably the smiling faces! :)

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind and concerned. :)

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

ignite the world to think passionately and positively about themselves and each other. They get that music is universal and transforming.

Michelle Love and her incredible staff are wonderful with the children. She and her staff are excellent in their field and very dedicated to the children. Every recital they try to have everyone donate money so children that are unable to afford music lessons can possibly take lessons for free if funds are available. She has been doing this for over ten years. Michelle Love has a heart of gold and is always trying to help the children in her community learn how to play any musical instrucment they choose if funds are available. (Review entered by GreatNonprofits staff member on behalf of the reviewer).

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Many children have been able to get free instrument lessons because of JLMS and I have seen them grow up and continue playing as an adult.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They work very well with my children and my children love going to their lesson. Their teachers are very kind and patient.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Kind, patient, fun, understanding, loving, and exceptionally good in their field of expertise.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Allow several children the opportunity to play an instrument that they would like to and help them to be successful. Music has been proven to help children be successful in school.

It is a privilege to write about a person who has demonstrated her ability to play the piano to that of loving and caringly sharing her talent with others. Mrs. Love ably shares her love for music with adults as well as with children. Her students respect her and respond to her musical instructions by practice and working hard to achieve the perfection that Mrs. Love instills in all her pupils. She is a great motivator and teacher.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The loving and kind approach is used to motivate students to achieve their musical goals. The best experience that I had was watching my daughter grow into a wonderful pianist during her period of development.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Wonderful, great, objective, and great in motivating all students.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

It could make phenomenal accomplishments in developing many students to achieve their musical goals.

Just Loving Music is a wonderful experience for the music student and his/her family. The students learn piano, the recorder, and string and wind instruments in a loving, stress-free and nurturing environment. The students can learn music through either the traditional or Suzuki methods. Further, the students have regular recitals to introduce them to speaking and entertaining in public. The lessons are family friendly and are offered at the family's convenience. The teachers are dedicated and engaging. Even more, the proprietor loves children and is a joy to work with!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

attending many of its recitals. Also, my children took piano lessons from JLM Studios.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand the number of locations.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the executive director's passion for music and the children.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

excellent!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide music to inner city, middle and upper class children. They would provide free or reduced priced lessons to a greater number of children. Think of the increase in test scores as studies have shown music enhances learning!

Ways to make it better...

they could have more locations.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Lack of funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Just Lovin Music Studios is a phenomenal program that fosters the musical development (and often expertise) of young and sometimes not so young aspiring musicians. As a former student of JLMS my appreciation for music has grown by leaps and bounds. The patience and dedication that Michelle Love displays in her untiring quest to broaden the musical horizons of her students is like non other. Not to mention the extraordinary talent that Michelle herself displays on the keys. Her performances alone serve as an inspiration to those who may have never touched a piano. Just Lovin Music Studios not only provides an education in music to it's students, but it instills an extremely high level of discipline and self-esteem, which trickles over into all facets of their lives.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Just Lovin Music is an excellent music program for young people. My son attended the program for learning how to play the clarinet. He enjoyed every class and built a strong foundation in music. This program is a great opportunity for kids to grow not only musically but in other areas such as: mathematics, time management, stage performance, and even social skills. I would highly recommend Just Lovin Music.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

skilled and energetic about teaching children how to play an instrument.

Recognizing and enabling the gifts our children process is a true art. With the fine arts being removed from public schools over 20 years ago (deemed unnecessary and of no value, all that is needed is reading and writing) I have watched a who generation of children drift into what is really of no value as they no conscience. The arts foster an appreciation of life that math and science alone cannot. The "X Generation" was forced to take to the streets, breaking new laws that forbade their creative abilities (raw rap and graffiti). Just Loving Music answers the question raised by Itzak Pearlman 20 years ago, when he warned society of the disaster rendered with the elimination of the arts. My grandson who has a clinical ADHA diagnosis has learned to focus, memorize, and tune out all but what requires his concentration both in school and at home-- through music. I cannot praise the teachers, and especially Michelle Love, enough for giving my grandson the ability to appreciate live through music. We love you!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

music lessons for my grandson

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

allow them to provide their services to all LOS ANGELES SCHOOLS

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Friendly, caring and understanding staff

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

outstanding humans

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

offer lessons to less fortunate children who cannot afford lessons

Ways to make it better...

I could afford more than the 1/2 hour lessons

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

sufficient funding to support

My family and I absolutely love the Just Loving Music classes as well as the faculty. My 11 year old daughter initially started taking piano classes in the summer of 2009 with Mrs. Love, and up until this point has made entraordinary progress with developing her piano skills. The JLMS team is truly dedicated to ensuring that each child achieves the goal of learning musical theory and standard techniques in a creative, fun loving way that can be easily adapted by people of all ages. I highly admire the ultimate passion for teaching and commitment that is displayed by each of the JLMS staff personnel. I would definitely recommend JLMS to any family in search of a profound, incomparable music program.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

That my daughter has obtained a new skill of playing the piano. JLMS has assisted her in developing her knowledge of the course through learning theory and standard techniques

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very passionate about teaching music, as well as being committed to ensuring that each child adapts all the fundamentals of music through a fun lovimg approach.
