I have been a volunteer for this organization for eight years, often traveling to Uganda to assist with the work. Juna Amagara means "saving life" and is dedicated to caring for orphan children, giving them education, a loving home environment and a faith basis for life. It started with 14 children in rented facilities and how has nearly 400 children in four locations in SW Uganda. Juna Amagara has built and runs its own schools, children's homes and community centers. Unlike many other orphan care organizations, Juna Amagara makes sure orphan kids are integrated into the community and are not stigmatized as "those poor children." Kids from the first years are now in university or in trades; several have returned to be on staff. The organization's goal was to raise up children and have them magnify themselves in the world.
