This is a great organization which is well-run and really cares about the patients. Everyone seems happy to be there, is professional and treats the patients with respect. As a volunteer, I just try to make the experience as positive as possible for the patients that I see.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

If they cannot help the patient, they refer them to low-cost providers in the area

The Judeo Christian Health Clinic treats tens of thousands of indigent patients free of charge each year. They also have labs, hospitals and private doctors in sub specialties who treat clinic patients free of charge when necessary. They offer medical, dental, and eye care and dispense medications free of charge from their licensed pharmacy. The clinic has been a godsend to those patients who have no other resource for their health care needs since 1972. All of this is accomplished with no government funding. The clinic is funded through private individuals, foundations and its own fundraising efforts. A small staff runs the day to day operation, and all others - doctors, nurses, pharmacists, opticians, etc - volunteer their time to treat patients for everything from the common cold to brain surgery and cancer. This organization has gone about its business of doing God's work for the past 38 years. To me it is the most vibrant volunteer organization in our community, perhaps in our country.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being deeply involved with patients who benefitted from the services the clinic offers.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the number of volunteers who serve and the great numbers of patients who receive the health care they need. All of this is accomplished with no government funding.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional, caring and compassionate who see the need for those who do not have access to our present health care dleivery system and work to fill that need.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

spend all of its time offering more services to more patients and not have to put any efforts in to fundraising.

As a Judaic part of the Judeo-Christian Health Clinic I get to see Judeo-Christian principles put into action. Many of the migrant worker families and others fall through the health insurance cracks. I watch them line up outside the Clinic and know that they will be seen at no cost by the best medical practitioners, and if necessary, the best specialists Tampa has to offer. Many can also receive hospital care and surgery -all free of charge. The Clinic fulfills the Biblical command to take care of those who cannot fend for themselves.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the congregation I serve as Senior Rabbi. Many of my congregants are medical professionals and the Clinic gives them volunteer opportunities. Those who offer their services are enriched and call it a religious moment when they can serve the needy.

When I was a young adult my father volunteered at teh clinic as a doctor, and later served for many years on the board. I heard for years of the hard work the volunteers did, and what services they provided for so many who could find help no where else in this community. My father had respect for the hard working patients he treated at the clinic, and was profoundly touched mby many of their life stories. When my father was dying he expressed concern that the clinic be able to continue it's mission of service to the working uninsured. When i was asked to join the board I was honored to be able to help continue a dream of service that was so important to my father. In my 2 plus years as board member I have to say that the clinic has exceptional staff, committed to providing services with respect and compassion.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have seen care given that has changed lives, saved lives...I have seen a line of patients waiting for services they could not receive anywhere else in our community. I have seen patients treated with courtesy, respect, and compassion.

I began over 30 years ago as a health care provider after hearing of the mission to serve those left out of the"system". Becoming a board member was a natural proces to continue the work to aid and assist those with no health benefits. Receiving no governmental support, the community of individuals, professionals, churches, and lay persons has met a need that continues today and will in the future; I am proud to be a contributor to this most worthy project.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

knowing that I have helped alleviate a patient of some of their pain and discomfort.

I started at the Judeo Clinic as an office volunteer 15 yrs. ago. We interviewed and screened patients to see if they qualified to be seen by a physician. They have to be employed, but they can only earn so much money. The time came when this needed to be a social worker position who could also speak Spanish. I then became a board member and have helped to raise money through various fund raisers, including an annual silent auction.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

meeting some wonderful people with wide open caring hearts

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try to solicit more physicians. There are always more patients than there are physicians to treat them.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting such wonderful people and having a feeling of helping others.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

king, caring people

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

insure that the doors would always be open, and we could help more and more people

Ways to make it better...

I had more time to serve.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

raising money to support the Clinic

One thing I'd also say is that...

The Judeo Christian Health is the greatest thing going in the Tampa Bay Area. Sick people come there when they have no other health care options.

The JCHC is a safety net, a haven of hope and healing, for those who have been lost in the health care sustem today. Even with reform, there will be those unable to have insurance, and as such, unable to find care when they or their loved ones are sick and suffering. The clinic offers compassion, care and support for each person who walks through it's doors. Receiving no government dollars, it is supported completely by the people of Tampa Bay, who donate their time, and their dollars, to help. It is an honor and a priviledge to work with people who have such compassion and concern for others in need. Each person is treated with dignity and repect, and all that is possible is done to help them,

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have seen patients who have cancer who have waited until they could wait no longer, afraid of the cost to them and their family.I have seen patients with diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases, untreated- until they find the clinic, and help.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

each individual who works at the JCHC, emplyee or volunteer, has deep concern for all who enter the doors, and their needs. This is the first priority. The patients are so grateful, and so motivated to get better, and do what they need to to improve.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind, compassionate and caring...selfless in so many ways.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help so many more people who are unable to get basic medical care, and services, in this country, and allow them hope for the future.

I serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the Judeo-Christian Health Clinic, Inc. and do so because of vital role we serve in our community. We are able to provide a wide variety of health care services at no cost to the working poor. We fill the "health care gap" in our community and I am proud to be associated with such a fine organization. Our care is the highest quality and delivered with compassion and love by all of our volunteers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

For many of the working poor in our community, we are the only option for health care. Without the Clinic and it's dedicated volunteers and generous donors, many people's health issues would be left untreated.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Encourage more physicians to volunteer their time and services so we can continue to make a difference in our community. Additionally, I would seek to increase our already generous donor base to be able to provide more services for our patients.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

hearing the success stories from our patients. They come to us with a true need and to be able to help in any way we can is a very rewarding experience.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extremely passionate, genuine and knowledgeable. Every single staff member and volunteer WANTS to be there and make a difference for the working poor in our community.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

serve many more patients who truly need help in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.

Ways to make it better...

we could continuously recruit additional physicians, in all pratice areas, to assist with our increasing patient demands.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the downturn in our economy which not only creates more of a need for our services but also, often times, results in a decrease in fundraising dollars.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am extremely proud to work with the volunteers and Board Members of the Judeo-Christian Health Clinic. If you are considering helping a local non-profit, please consider the Clinic as we need your support now more than ever.

Im an Ob/Gyn physician who volunteers at the clinic and am also on the board. I see many women who need pap smears, mammograms and surgeries but do not have the means to get the care they need. The Judeo Christian Clinic provides medical access to people in need. I have seen some women who may have developed cervical cancer because they could not afford the simple surgery needed to prevent it. Through the clinic I was able to provide this surgery and save lives. The clinic has provided excellent medical care for thousands of patients in need. It has truly saved lives.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

peforming life saving surgeries for women in need.
