Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection

Mission: Johnson creek watershed council (the organization) is an oregon nonprofit corporation formed in 1995. The organization is an outgrowth of citizen groups and government collaboration to develop community solutions to key watershed issues: water quality degradation, frequent flooding, and loss or degradation of fish and wildlife habitat.

Programs: Restoration - coordinates and implements priority protection, restoration and conservation projects as identified by the watershed assessment and action plan. It also encourages community investment in restoration of the johnson creek watershed through on-the-ground fish and wildlife habitat restoration projects.

monitoring - participates in the interjurisdictional committee to focus on monitoring consistency throughout the watershed, and on projects that result in cost-efficient, collaborative and conclusive results.

outreach - improves watershed health by promoting stewardship through community investment, education and outreach. It also educates streamside property owners on watershed restoration and conservation techniques, and encourages schools to make long-term stewardship commitment to priority restoration sites on johnson creek.
