As a member of the leadership council of the south peninsula branch, I am on my second year of the program. This program is amazing and has taught me valuable skills that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The work that we are able to accomplish is incredible. As a teenager, I would never think that I could have the opportunity to make such an impact on the world as we are doing at the teen foundation.

The South Peninsula Jewish Community Teen Foundation has been one of the best things our daughters have done. Not only have they learned a lot about philantrophy, they gained leadership and organizational skills and met some other great teens. It is a very positive experience. Our daughters always looked forward to the meetings.

I had one of my most meaningful and life changing experiences involving philanthropy when I was a board member of the San Francisco JCTF (during my high school sophomore year). After each exciting monthly meeting, I could truly declare myself a skilled, young philanthropist.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

foster an altruistic youth that has been trained to financially fix problems of local and national importance.

I first joined the Marin/SF board last year and I loved it so much that I decided to return this year as a second year member. I learned so much about philanthropy, grants, fundraising, and working as a board. We all worked very hard and I enjoyed witness all that we accomplished. My favorite part was presenting the grants and seeing exactly who and how are money was going to help. This is an amazing organization that truly works toward building a better, brighter future.

I am the parent of a second-year Board member and I have watched this organization become an increasingly important part of my child's life. Of all of the things he does outside of school, Teen Foundation has been the most meaningful. He truly appreciates the impact he is having and especially enjoys the depth of the discussions he is having with his peers and adults. And he's having a great time. It's all good.

This is one of the most extraordinary experiences for those tough Teen years as a young Jewish adult. Post Bar Mitzvah, many Jewish teens drop out of Jewish life. This not only keeps them engaged, but lets them lead it to reach beyond their comfort zones to help those near and far in need. A fabulous experience! This review should also be considered for the Jewish Choice Awards contest.

I've watched the teens emerge from this experience with a greater sense of their responsibility to help others, to give back, to give tzedakkah (charity) in a strategic way for the rest of their lives. So important!

People are often shocked to find out I am Jewish. I am tall and blond so I do not "look" it but I certainly feel it because our culture is to give back. This foundation gve me every opportunity to learn how to raise money, research the needs of the world and carefully manage the funds to make sure they were sent to wonderful non profits. It was everything I could possibly dream of and I met so many new people.

As a board member for two years, this organization changed my life. It helped me stay intimately connected with Judaism while allowing everyone to stay comfortable with their own level of observance. It gave me connections to fellow teens across the bay who I am still great friends with. We helped to change the world, which was an amazing experience. and of course, we ate a lot of good food.

Amazing. The other teens are passionate and caring, and the discussions we had were lively and important. We all strove to the same goal of helping the world.

I am a second-year member of the Jewish Community Teen Foundation, serving for the South Peninsula board. I have learnt all about how to run a charitable foundation, from fundraising to grant-making. I have developed a passion for giving that will hopefully stay with me for my whole life. Importantly, I have learned to give effectively based on Jewish values and through a Jewish lens. Last year the board gave to communities in Israel, Belarus, Sudan, Niger, South Africa, and Eastern Africa. This program is great because as the teens involved not only learn leadership skills and how to run a smart foundation, but make a huge impact on communities around the world.

I am a second-year board member and I must admit, this is a great thing for any high-school student to do. I have begun to play a larger role in the Jewish Community and have met so many great friends with this experience. It is also a great way to learn about what it means to lead meetings and essentially run a foundation.
