I had been at what I thought was a secure job for 6+ years and all of a sudden, the rug got pulled out from under me. I was on vacation with my 5-year-old son when I got the news that I would be returning home to no job.

At the time, my husband was back in school since his job got
out-sourced and would not be done with school for another year. So there we were, both jobless and trying to raise our son, pay the mortgage and pay the bills.

Since I had been the main bread winner of the family and the insurance carrier, I didn't have much time before I had to get back into the work force.

Jewish Family Services came along and gave me the skills and the confidence I needed to put my job search at full-speed-ahead. I had an interview lined up and luckily went to their 4-hour interview skills seminar the day before. I landed the job and now my family is back on track.

Their weekly meetings and seminars were invaluable. But, I have to say, my favorite thing about JFS is that everyone there made you feel so welcomed and at home. I never met a nicer group of people. You can tell that they were truly there to help you and sincerely wanted you to succeed.

Always feels good to know they are always there to help you through personal struggles.... My experience has been a very good one... I had gone through what seemed like something that would last forever.. Never thought I was strong enough to be completely on my own... Jewish Family Services helped me get my life on the right track.... Now that things are starting to fall into place and I have become stronger I owe a huge thank you to them.. They were a HUGE part of getting me to where I am today... A super extra thank you to Lisa Carroll. She is outstanding, strong, kind, and always helpful. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone who feels overwhelmed with life or is going through struggles... Whether it be job seeking, personal and emotional struggles, domestic violence, etc.... Jewish Family Services is there to help..

Before I came to Jewish Family Services I felt scared, alone, and stuck in the situation I was in. After working with them, I was given the support I needed to help me make the necessary changes in my life. I feel with their help I was given the chance to start over. I have since gotten out of my situation and am still getting their support. The people at Jewish Family Services go above and beyond when reaching out to help people in need. I highly recommend their services and am so impressed with all the different programs and support they offer!!!! They have given so much I plan on volunteering for this wonderful organization any chance I get.

I was laid off after 12 years. How to find a job has changed drastically. I went to the unemployment office. I have a Masters degree but most of the programs at the unemployment office were designed for non professionals. I found the Jewish family service through the Veteran Affairs.
As I said,
looking and finding a job is very different in today’s economy. The Jewish family services taught me how to change the things I was going. There were lots of FREE classes designed to you relearn the art of finding a job. There are weekly meetings with guess speaker. These meeting keep on track. They also put you in touch with people that may be able to help. You learn there are other people in the same boat and they help keep your spirits up and positive. The people running the program are very friendly and professional. Their knowledge and contacts are just as good as any paid program. They treat everyone with respect and concern for you situation. They repeatedly went out of their way to assist me. I can’t say enough about the whole program.

I met Lynn Aspey, while employed with an outpatient physical/occupational therapy organization. My initial impression of Lynn has maintained to the present - a devoted leader with a dedicated passion for serving the Central Ohio area. I look forward to continued projects with Lynn.

This is a wonderful organization that is highly involved in the community. They not only help people get back to work, but they also help other organizations in the community achieve their goals. For instance, I work for a local Universty that focuses on Adult degree programs. JFS provides information to their contacts, as well as their clients, about any available educational opportunities or events that we are holding. A relationship with JFS means a mutually beneficial, long-tern partnership.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the opportunity to learn and educate my self on current issues related wit the job market

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

excellent!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Assist more people in need and train other organization on doing the same

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

on my personal experience, and due to the current economic situation; I think the challenge is on the quantity of unemployed professionals that need support

One thing I'd also say is that...

is very nice and uncommon in today's world to find assistance and and open line to talk. Thank you
