A fantastic organization at all levels, from the staff to the volunteers and board of directors. JEVS is a creative, cutting-edge organization dedicated to "making hope happen" throughout the community. The organization strives to first evaluate the many challenges and needs faced by our society(such as job skills training, independence for the aged, and many other other social service matters) and then designs and implements creative programatic solutions.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

My exposure to some of the most creative, cutting-edge minds in the non-profit space, and seeing the many positive results come to fruition within our community.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Wonderful people -- I am amazed at the tenure of the volunteers and employees. People stay at JEVS --- 15, 20, even 25 years of employment and involvement is not uncommon.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand its geographic reach beyond the Mid-Atlantic region, and also would be able to design and implement social services solutions to even more societal problems.

One of the best run, most organized organizations I have ever seen. This is a group who not only makes a difference to the lives of the people who it provides vocational training to but carries on the relationships with future employers and former students for a very long time. Additionally, they run small group homes for various disabilities, which provide a quality of life for the residents so far above any state run facility. Overall, after 5 years on the board I have yet to see anything at all which deserves a critical comment. As positive as this review sounds, believe me, it is toned down considerably.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the quality of life they provide for those in the small homes and by seeing the true pride in people who excell after a biot of their vocational training.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make it bigger

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing the motivation that leads to the success of the students and hearing the positive attitude of the people ruinning the homes.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Genuinely curious about what I thought of their part of the organization. THey truly cared.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Truly make a dent in our city and possibly set up nationwide models.

Ways to make it better...

I had learned about them sooner

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

federal and state funding limitations causing greater reliance on private donations

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am honored to have a small part in this organization.

This is a caring and well-organized and managed organization that combines the best of the business world with the best of the social services world.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

a program in which Welfare to Work participants were assisted by former welfare recipients without any compensation.
