Jconnect has been a welcoming place for all young Jews in the community. It was a great place to meet new people when just moving to Seattle, it provided constant opportunities to try synagogues, events to attend, and classes to enhance your Jewish knowledge. It also provided the chance to help in the community, from volunteering at the JFS food bank, to contributing to local CSAs to selling challah for Justice to name just 1% of what they do. It is continually a great nonprofit that understands a need to provide a welcoming, warm space for its clients, new and old. Continue all the great work Jconnect!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

taking part in their events. It was a great place for someone to get involved in every aspect of the Jewish community after just moving to the area.

Jconnect is a wonderful program. It is the only program in Seattle that focuses on the demographic of young people who are between college and married/family life. It does a great job of providing religious and social programming for those who aren't ready to join a synagogue but still wish to engage with the Jewish community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

meeting my husband there, and having the rabbi marry us!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand Shabbat activities.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

its amazing, dedicated staff and diversity of programs.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the kind who go above and beyond to make its programs successful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

engage even more Jewish young adults!

Ways to make it better...

more religious services (Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform on Shabbat; not just one Shabbat a month hosted at Hillel) were available.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

attracting young adults; many don't understand the value in engaging with the community.

One thing I'd also say is that...

my life would be completely different without the people I met through Jconnect.

My experience with Jconnect has been great! It is one of the only ways for me to connect with Jews my age in Seattle. The activities have been very creative so far and I have especially enjoyed the sponsored parties where everyone can just come to mingle and enjoy themselves. It is also a place where I feel comfortable talking about issues that pertain to me as young, Jewish woman in the working professional world. I will definitely continue to go to Jconnect events!

The staff and volunteers that I have met at Jconnect events have been so welcoming, warm and give off a very positive, comfortable vibe. I wouldn't change anything that they are attempting to do.

I've been meeting with the Rabbis at Jconnect for a while now. One-on-one, they've been a great help in helping me figure out my place in the community, as well as my place with the greater context of American Jewry. Also, I took a language class there once. It was pretty affordable, and the teacher was wonderful. We had lots of personal time, and my classmates were good people to learn with. Jconnect at the UW Hillel is just a great local hub for Jews. It has cultural programs, as well as religious ones. It's indispensable!

Jconnect is an amazing organization that has helped me and many of my friends get connected to our core social group in Seattle. It has been not just the quality of Jconnect events, but the variety and quantity. As a non-observing Jew I greatly enjoy the social spin on a lot of Jconnect events. Almost every holiday comes along with a great Jconnect event from Tu B'Av to Purim. I honestly can't measure how important Jconnect has been to making me feel at home in Seattle. The core organizer, Josh, makes you feel at home and without any pressure drives a desire to show up and participate.

Josh Furman. An amazing social organizer, event planner, etc. Can't imagine a better director of the program.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Reach out to a greater portion of the NW Jewish community. I would also love to see it expand to other areas (i.e. Bay Area). As a model of how Hillel can incoporate the post-grad crowed.

Ways to make it better...

I am on the younger end of the spectrum, so I would like if some events spanned 20-26 rather than 22-35.

JConnect Seattle is one of the most amazing organizations I have ever worked with. That is saying a lot because I used be a consultant for nonprofits. Everything about the organization is exception. That includes the programming, the staff, attention to detail, professionalism of staff and volunteers, and everything else one could think of. I am continually impressed by the organization's drive to be better, even though they already are incredible! The leaders and staff are always thinking critically about the needs and wants of the community they serve. For example, when I came to one of the staff people with an idea, he made it happen. I cannot say more about how amazing this organization is.

JConnect is a wonderful organization that provides opportunities for young Jews from across the denominational spectrum to find ways to make their Judaism relevant and meaningful--whether through learning, prayer, social justice, or the outdoors. I particularly love their community supported agriculture program, JHarvest, which teaches us about our Jewish obligation to eat local organic food.

JConnect Seattle has been a great organization that has helped me connect with others in the Jewish Community through amazing social, volunteer and educational events. Without JConnect, I would be very out of touch with the Jewish community and for that I am so grateful to JConnect Seattle!

As an openly gay Jewish young adult, I tend to avoid your mainstream, traditional Jewish “young adult” groups. They all seem to have a secret agenda of matchmaking their participants and making more Jewish babies! I always felt out of place and unwelcome, but Jconnect was completely different right from the start. Their diverse events attracted a diverse audience and I was immediately received with love and acceptance. At every event I felt warmly embraced by the staff and participants. They seemed to understand that not every young adult event needed to include loud music and alcohol for it to be successful. These days I check the Jconnect calendar almost every day to see what kind of new and interesting events are coming up, and I'm never disappointed! This past year they offered incredible cooking classes and a chance to see live Jewish performances. I appreciate how accessible Jconnect is, hosting events all around the city, making them affordable to grad students and non-profit employees such as myself and having staff introduce new people. I also appreciate how they have reached out the LGBT population by having special events like Shabbat brunches, movie nights, Purim parties, and more! As a Jewish professional I have seen many non-profit organizations that serve the Jewish community but none like Jconnect. Their innovative programming, warm staff and creative programs have far surpassed my expectations. I only hope they continue to receive the funding they need to continue to serve the ENTIRE young adult Jewish population. Thank you Jconnect!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way I see myself as a Jew. I no longer feel like a Jew "on the margin" but rather an integral part of the Jewish community. Jconnect reached out to me as a queer Jew with diverse interests.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how much fun I have had! I've learned how to cook, seen incredible Jewish performers rock out and met Jews from different backgrounds.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the warmest and friendliest I've met! They always reach out to me, greeting me before I've even stepped in the door and introducing me to new people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

continue to reach out to isolated, marginalized Jews. It could lower costs to events making it accessible to everyone and do more marketing to increase visibility in the community.
