JConnect Seattle is many things to me. I daven at J Connect services on Shabbat and chaggim; it is my shul and Rabbi Will and Rabbi Jacob are my friends and teachers. I stop by Hillel sometimes just to say hello and usually bump into friends/community, and that's always very nice. A handful of us have also started our own weekly learning group which is an important part of all of our weeks. I also attend some J Connect events at farms, danceclubs, at Hillel and around. I am a musician and J Connect often employs and provides me with space and support. I also use Hillel counseling services. In short, J Connect does a lot for me. It provides community, Yiddishkeit, employment, counseling, spirituality, food, girlfriends, good friends and warmth.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Good friends, good events, Kabbalat Shabbat, Chaggim, dinners, gatherings at Hillel, people's houses and around town.

The sense of warmth and the base of community it provides my life.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make more trips, provide more tzeddaka opportunities, market itself to a broader base of people,

There were various attempts to resurrect existing and start new Jewish 20-something programs in Seattle, but none were successful until JConnect came along in ~2004. Since then, I and many others can credit JConnect with helping us (re)connect with and grow our Jewish identities, establish our social circles, and meet (and marry) our significant others. My experience with JConnect was so formative that I have since become a board member of the University of Washington Hillel, something I never would have anticipated before my involvement with the program.

As board chair for Hillel - and as a board member who has watched Jconnect start and get incredible momentum, it is my honor to recommend Jconnect as among the most innovative and exciting programs in the Jewish world today. Whereas many programs are focused on Jewish youth or on young families, Jconnect targets the age at which many people who are seeking meaningful Jewish experiences have critical questions of identity and want and need a safe, engaging and open environment in which to find their Jewish Journey - and delivers incredibly well on what they're seeking.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand to fully meet the needs of the Greater Seattle community and define the replication mechanisms that would help other communities better engage young people seeking meaningful Jewish experiences between the ages of 18 and 32.

Jconnect Seattle is a wonderful organization that creates a community of Jewish young professionals and graduate students throughout the Seattle area. The leaders of Jconnect Seattle are exceptional. Throughout the year, they provide a significant amount of programming and they are always friendly and welcoming. Some examples of activities include weekly classes, community supported agriculture, Shabbat dinners and social justice opportunities. In addition, I have learned a great deal through my participation and I have made some amazing friends and connections along the way.

Hillel at the UW with JConnect comprise the most creative and successful Jewish organization in the city and, perhaps (for young adults) the country!

Seattle is filled with opportunities for young Jewish adults, but Jconnect manages to always offer unique activities that really speak to my generation. I have made new friends through Jconnect, and felt more connected to my community. The events help me have a meaningful Jewish experience at a time in my life when synagogues membership doesn't fit my needs. Jconnect is the first place I turn to for Jewish community.

I've been involved with Hillel for almost four years. They are very well organized and do an extremely good job of bringing together the young adult Jewish community of Seattle. I owe so many friendships to Hillel. They offer something for everyone. Participating in the new J-Harvest CSA program has been life-changing for me. Rabbi Will and Rabbi Jacob have helped me grow my spirituality and are now an invaluable part of my life.

I have been engaged with Jconnect off and on for six years now. I have seen the program go through many changes involving both personnel and structure. With that being said, the constant is that I am always welcomed back with open arms. I have taken part in everything including Jewish learning classes, AJWS trips, Birthright trips, Passover/Tu B'shevat sedars... For a year and a half I ran a Moishe House and worked closely with Jconnect in a more formal business type relationship and with that help was able to accomplish a lot from a grassroots perspective. I don't want to gush anymore about Jconnect but it was the first place I found Jewish community in my adult life. I had been lacking that connection since 10th grade confirmation. At this point, many of those that surround me are Jewish and I feel entrenched in this community

JConnect was how my partner and I found our community in Seattle. We moved here from Florida 5 years ago and knew no one. After attending many events we knew that we had found a great organization that had everything we were looking for in our new community. Within 3 years of attending a myriad of events we felt as connected in the young Jewish community as many of our new "Seattleite" friends. We can attribute most of our deepest bonds and most meaningful friendships to JConnect and the efforts of Will Berkowitz and his fantastic staff.

When I first moved to Seattle 5 years ago from Florida with my partner, we knew nobody and our nearest friends or family members were thousands of miles away. We discovered JConnect and instantly built a strong network of friends. While lately we have not attended JConnect with the same frequency we did our first two years here, the effects JConnect has had on us still remain strong. We are always attending Shabbat dinners (and throwing them ourselves) with friends from the JConnect community and our sense of Jewish identity has heightened after taking several classes and learning more as an adult than I did from stopping my Jewish education as a high schooler. I am grateful for everything the Hillel staff has provided to me over the years and I know my time in Seattle would not have been the same without JConnect.
