I was reluctant to join J'burgh because of a bad overall experience at my collegiate Hillel. From the first time I met David Katz I was convinced, and have felt accepted and wanted at every event. The variety of activites and people involved is part of what makes the group great. David genuinely cares about the program as well as the members, and is an excellent leader for the group. Pretty much, J'Burgh flat-out rocks.

The Great!
  • I've seen the results of this organization in... Fun sports teams, holiday gatherings, education offereings
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... First rate. David Katz is a great leader, learning and evolving in his role as he continues to do excellent work on the job.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... As it grows, I assume the personal contact might lessen.

They have been a great organization that brings young people together with common interests. The activities are fun and unique to the interests of the participants.

The Great!
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the variety of activities the group makes available to the participants. They are fun and creative.
Ways to make it better!
  • If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… have more activities per month!

I have been to a few events with J'Burgh, and have enjoyed them all. I like how relaxed the environment can be at programs. Everyone is very friendly, and often hang out on their own or after events, such as after art shows or sports events. It is a great crowd of people.

The Great!
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... meeting other Jewish young professionals that share my interests and who also love living in Pittsburgh!
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Really nice. Very friendly and outgoing, and helpful. David Katz runs the organization. He's really cute.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Plan some awesome events, like take all it's members to Israel for a month long vacation and really promote Jewish identity.
Ways to make it better!
  • If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… Probably give David an employee to help him plan programming. he seems to have so much going on, and it seems like he is always busy helping people or going to meetings!
  • One thing I'd also say is that... It's really fun to be Jewish.

I've been to many J'Burgh events (seders, cookouts, athletic events, etc). Moving to a new city can be hard if you don't know people and J-Burgh is a welcoming community that hosts actually fun events for Jewish young adults, like poker games and international film festivals, and also important Jewish holiday dinners and Shabbat dinners. All in all, it's a great way to feel at home in Pittsburgh for Jewish young adults who recently moved there for work or grad school, and a good place to meet friends or even significant others.

The Great!
  • I've seen the results of this organization in... finding a young Jewish community of friends and activities.
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... getting to know the people
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... happy, laid back, and eager to get to know me.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... replicate itself in 100s or 1000s of cities in the US/internationally.
Ways to make it better!
  • My experience would have been better if... don't know
  • If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… not sure
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... advertising
  • One thing I'd also say is that... N/A
