While volunteering at Jacob's Ladder I've built a personal relationship with staff and clients. My favorite thing about volunteering at Jacob's Ladder is that I get to share all my experiences that I've been through in my past with the clients.

I have been volunteering with Jacob's Ladder for the past year, during that time I have been able to use my skills to help others. It is easy to take for granted the ability to use the internet to apply online or that we have a resume to share when looking for a job, while there are so many without those skills. This non-profit takes the time to assist the clients feel confident so that they can re-enter the workforce and stay there.

Quotes from participants: I improved my writing skills tremendously. I finally learned how to fill out applications correctly and completely. I know how to write a cover letter and get why thank you notes are so important. I learned how to listen and remain calm during the interview. I’ve been to every program out there and you guys are the first ones to stay on me until I mastered the application and interview skills. I gained confidence during my presentations to classmates. Before I started I had no idea how to use the computer and now I can apply for online jobs and I know how to work with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. At first I did not want to be here at all, I thought blah just another program, but I learned more than I could have ever imagined this month. My classmates and teachers believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself and that gave me hope to keep working hard to find my job.
The Great!
