Empowering youth and young adults to find and fulfill on their God-inspired purpose for their lives. Creating and presenting programs with proven results.
Programs: Foundation for a New Future was in direct response to the growing number of young people that are either falling through the cracks at school or are already entangled with the juvenile court system. The goal of the program is to bring practical tools and timeless truths to kids who are experiencing a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer a positive message that can enable them to escape the pitfalls derailing their lives. The focus will be slightly different in each probation facility, but the goal remains the same; empower the young person to make positive changes in his/her life. Once a student completes the Foundation for a New Future program, he or she will be ready to successfully pursue and maintain employment, manage their personal finances, and become integrated into healthy, growth inductive relationships. More important, he or she will have the tools to build a life that is productive, rewarding and God-honoring.

I've had the pleasure of volunteering with J.P. Western Presentations for two years now. The dedication of the founder Mr. Pat Combs is endless. The Board of Directors and teachers are made of up faith-based, dedicated men and woman who come together with great expertise to tackle the challenges that disadvantaged San Diego youth experience daily. This local 501(c)(3) nonprofit has partnered with San Diego County's Probation Department, local churches, and employers to encourage disadvantaged students to successfully develop every aspect of their life through education. They have even developed a special curriculum, FOUNDATION FOR A NEW FUTURE, which focuses on an individual's potential, God-given gifts, and inherent abilities.

Since my volunteer expertise falls "behind the scenes," I don't have the pleasure of working with the students or teachers. However, I have the opportunity of reading the student's feedback on what the organization has done for them. And, in some cases, these at-risk youth excel to become great leaders in their communities and helping future generations by "giving back."
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would like to see more people take an interest in what this small group is accomplishing in the lives of many, and help with the donation of their time, talents, and resources so that J.P. Western is able to expand from just San Diego to other cites and states across the United States.
