They helped me find my four legged best friend a few years ago and were amazing at helping me find the right dog and giving me information about the Italian Greyhounds. Since then I have fallen in love with the breed and the people involved with the rescue. It is an amazing group of people and dogs and I feel fortunate to be part of it and be able to foster these dogs. The state representatives do an awesome job at organizing getting dogs into foster homes, home visits, and finding them their forever homes.

I have never met a more caring and dedicated group of people as those who work with Italian Greyhound Rescue (IGRF). We have seen some very sad little ones come through our doors, and it is so heart-warming to watch them blossom and become happy pups once their health and nutritional needs are met. My hats off to those who tirelessly work to try to find foster homes and forever homes for these sweet little guys!

The people who volunteer their time to place these dogs are without a doubt the MOST valuable to the success of adoption. I have had horses, dogs etc,.....always an advocate to an animals well being...a little Italian greyhound TESSA whom I adopted made the biggest impressionistic change on our lives ( husband and myself).....she was placed in my life which leafy housed two big greys....if it were not for the understanding and direction received...I would have missed one of the most special things ever given to me in my lifetime!!!.......she is so a part of our lives...I cannot imagine our lives without this little silly diva!

IGCA is an important life line to Italian Greyhound Breed. The Rescue portion of the organization goes way above and beyond treating IGs that come through the organization with catastrophic medical issues. I know. I have fostered many an IG that has been owner surrendered because they could not the vet bills. Our volunteers network with each other, share information, and the joy of a successful recovery for medical issues and placement in a new forever home. Our rescue organization focuses on correct placement for our beloved breed, the first time. Our organizations provides a lifetime of education and ideas for our adoptive families. We have an awesome volunteer staff... nationally. Each of us play an important part in supporting our breed. As a volunteer, my state representatives are super knowledgeable and always willing to share ideas, advice and offer support. The focus first and always is the welfare of our beloved breed.

Worked hard to help me find an Iggy that was right for me. Though I ended up adopting from another rescue organization, I was so impressed that I will soon be volunteering as a foster mom.

WONDERFUL group of very dedicated and selfless people who give their time, their homes and their physical, emotional and financial support to needy and deserving dogs....100% volunteer more

Great group of people who are all in it for the sake of the dogs.....100% volunteer so all money goes for the care of homeless Italian Greyhounds. The organization provides vetting and the dogs live in private homes as part of their foster families while they wait to be adopted to carefully screened homes.

I have been involved in many different aspects of IGCA rescue for many years. As an adopter, I couldn't have been more impressed. As a volunteer, I take great pride in many very important aspects of the process: 1) Taking a dog in to rescue and giving it all it needs to thrive 2) Helping that dog along the way as it learns what it is like to simply live, in some cases 3) Finding the perfect home for our perfect dog so both the dog and family are happy 4) Continuing contact with adopters so we can help them if needed, or get a picture to make our day, and 5) All of the above, ONLY IF we are unable to provide enough help to the owner(s) that want to try to keep their beloved family member. When our collaborative attempts fail, we gladly/sadly take their IG in to rescue (starting #1) with the promise that we will give our new buddy nothing but the best, for life. Rescue...Rehab...Rehome...Repeat, until there are none needing our help.

I've been volunteering for Italian Greyhound Rescue for over 7 years and I'm so impressed with the level of veterinary care these dogs receive prior to finding homes for them. This organization is filled with caring and loving people who are committed to finding wonderful homes for our dogs.

I am the treasurer for this wonderful organization and am proud to be working with such a dedicated group of people. From the Boards (Foundation and Rescue), to the Area Coordinators, Rescue Representatives, Volunteers and Fundraising team - all give 100% with their hearts as no salaries are paid out. With over 900 Italian Greyhounds coming into Rescue each year funds are sorely needed and 100% of them are used to rehab, and re-home Italian Greyhounds in need. We have no kennels, all of our dogs are lovingly cared for in foster homes across the entire United States. I can tell you from personal experience that this organization is one of the finest 501(c)3 charities in existence today.

Review from Guidestar
December 3, 2012

Donations to this organization only benefit the animals they serve. Historically, 99% or more of the donations are spent on the animals in their care every year, since they do not have any paid staff. The whole organization is run by volunteers from the board and president, down to the local level within each state. All vet bills are scrutinized at the itemized level to ensure donations spent on the animals are not being spent on unnecessary costs, so that they may continue to serve other animals in the future. The organizational structure is very well-formed for a small charity, with local state representatives, regional coordinators and the overseeing chairperson and board ensuring things run smoothly and each animal receives the best available care, without wasteful spending. The rescue representatives are all passionate about helping animals within their care, finding quality adoptive homes, and seeking out other Italian Greyhounds needing assistance. If you want your donation to be spent on the animals, rather than going to pay salaries, advertising, or other expenses, this is a charity you should consider.
