My wife is a staff member of ICA USA. They are a wonderful organization that I would, and do, recommend highly.

I have a family member who had cancer in Israel. The Israel Cancer Association, which is supported by ICA USA, helped her tremendously. Because of that experience, I have become a strong advocate of Israel Cancer Association USA.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my cousin beating cancer!

I have used the website to obtain speciific information about the treatment of certain cancers. I have served as Chair of the Mission Education Committee for the ACS Relay for Life program. The ICA, in my opinion, is more dedicated to research and trestment than ACS, which I believe squanders a lot of its donated dollars on infrastructure.

The Board and people that I work with are very devoted and want to help find a cure for cancer. The scientists in Israel are extremely dedicated to that cause.

ICA USA enriches the lives of cancer patients by supporting research and progressive technology. New oncology departments, hospice facilities, trained medical personnel, tutors for school children with cancer, trips for these children and their families - all t his is made possible through ICA USA funding.

The cost of cancer research in Israel is a fraction of the cost for the same research conducted in the United States. Thus scientists in Israel can go beyond standard practices and employe the most innovative research techniques while working according to strict professional criterea. The result: ICA's world renowned and prize-winning researchers can access the most progressive advancements to find cancer cures.

Israel Cancer Association continues to offer a fabulous return for every dollar that is raised and forwarded to our scientists in Israel. The scientists there continue to focus on patient care and curing without the burden of looking over their shoulders to worry about legal wrangling. The curing/resolution of cancer issues is paramount for these superbly-educated scientists.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing and reading of significant and novel ways to attack the disease through innovative research and methods

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

work on greater exposure to what we do

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

interaction with a strong board who is attuned to the issues and share a common goal in funding advanced research

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

committed to a greater goal

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

greatly expand its research activity to take a longer term view to the more advanced and time-consuming research.

Ways to make it better...

we had a broader base of contributors with higher vixsibility Corporate participants

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

distancing us from some"cancer" organizations who are more concerned with the social life of charities and instead of focusing on new procedures and research are bogged down with old techniques in new"wrappers"

One thing I'd also say is that...

the "bang-for-the buck" researcher in Israel is a much better investment in high priced work done in some of the areas where overhead and posturing eat up the bulk of the available dollars

This rather obscure organization if the US arm of the principal cancer charity operating in Israel--analogous to the American Cancer Society in the US. The main purpose of the US arm is to fund cancer research conducted in Israel. Israeli cancer scientists have one of the most impressive records of innovation in the World. Moreover, such research is arried out at a fraction of the cost of similar work ccnducted in the US or Europe. ICA USA is a very frugal organization with low administrative and fund-raising costs, hence its relatively low profile yet it has funded the work of Nobel-prize-winning scientists.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

observing the efficacy of the scientific research. Having personally funded 3 fellowships, I can attest to the impressive results.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Spend more on marketing as the "story" is so impressive, the returns would justify the expense.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The challenge of raising awareness of a one of the most effective yet now widely known cancer charities.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Highly dedicated and competent.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Fund many more worthwhile projects. The backlog of unfunded projects by highly credentialed Israeli scientists is sizable.

Ways to make it better...

ICA had been able to raise more funds and reach more people. ICA's marketing budget is quite limited as the organization makes sure that every dollar possible funds valuable research.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Raising awareness on a National basis.
