ISIS provides relevant and useful information and services to individuals hoping to better understand the impact of STD's - to learn and become informed about STD's and to seek guidance when an STD is suspected. ISIS is familiar with a variety of communication tools that reach into the population of individuals most likely to be afflicted by STD's. They have focused their work on youth but have also provided services that have helped a broad range of individuals affected by STD's. They know what they are doing and are courageous in tackling a topic so few are willing to address in the US - Sex! Yay for ISIS

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

programs we conducted together; their support for YouthNoise's efforts to raise awareness for STD's and other sexual health related issues.

How can I say this with out spending to much time with the key board. "ISIS was and is AWESOME to be a part of!" The experience of working with Deb and the ISIS crew has brought me closer to the community I am living in. Being a Gay man I am aware of the circumstances with which we enter and expose ourselves to but, ISIS allowed me to see a different side of the equation when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases. From helping with an HIV study, to being involved with teen communication on the subject of sex and risk, ISIS is reaches out in areas that are greatly needed and largely ignored because of fear or ignorance. Keep it up Deb you, ISIS and your staff are making amazing strides in the "act" of communication regarding sexual behavior between people, not just teens or gay men.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Open communication, Working with more then HIV. Expanding my knowledge of Needle Exchange, STDs and open information.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Expand it's reach other states, by franchising ISIS to each city.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Being a part of something that was doing a real service to the community as a whole. Allowing young people to make informed honest decisions about their lives.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Hard working, dedicated and passionate about what they were accomplishing.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand and Create campaigns that could reach millions of teens through honest communication about STDs

Ways to make it better...

I had more involvement.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Money and time. With out the cash flow projects are limited to smaller groups. Time, along with staff, keeps the reach from expanding. More money + more staff = more time to spread the information needed to communities and schools across the state.

One thing I'd also say is that...

We can create a better, safer and honest place for young people to live and ask questions with out fear. Keep making one step forward.

I first heard about ISIS while looking for resources for sexuality professionals interested in learning more about technology. I attended and presented at their first conference and was blown away not only by the quality of speakers and attendees, but by the diverse group they attracted, on both sides of the registration tables. ISIS has an ability to engage youth and professionals serving youth without ever talking down to either group, and without ever minimizing the importance of either groups voice. They understand what is exciting and useful about using technology for health interventions, but equally understand that it's human interactions and relationships that give life to most tech interventions.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

several of their projects, including inSpot and the awesome Sex::Tech conference.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide them with more support as they are going through an amazing growth phase. Make sure they have the organizational capacity to match their creative programming ways.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the energy and creativity of the staff and ED and their enviable mix of vision and practicality.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

engaged, passionate, funny, quirky.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do the great work it's already doing, but on a bigger scale, in more communities, in a deeper way.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time to take it all in.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

growing too fast, prioritizing all the important work that needs to get done.

I am continually amazed by this organization. The ingenuity and dedication of the incredible staff has given rise to a wide array of impressive, effective, widely used projects. It is extraordinary that such a small staff can produce so much- the annual conference on technology and sexual health; the inSPOT website for partner notification, STD information, and locating clinics; appointment and prescription reminders through text messaging; websites for public health clinics; and lots more... I am truly in awe of these highly creative, dynamic folks.

-their innovative use of new media. In the course of my work for ISIS, I have seen how much traffic their sites get, and read the positive feedback from users, and seen the numbers that show the large number of people that are actually using the services.

Technology is re-shaping people's relationships and creating communities. Understanding applications for technology in health promotion is essential for groups interested in promoting healthy behaviors, especially in these lean economic times. ISIS is the bridge that can adeptly guide youth, men who have sex with men, health departments, researchers, and companies on efficiently and appropriately using technology to promote sexual health.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

They have provided great advice and technical help to the health department where I work. We often refer clients to inSPOT, a web based system ISIS created to notify sex partners about potential exposures.

ISIS Inc is an incredible organization. Small and powerful, they tackle taboo subjects such as young people's sexual health with professionalism, grace, and honesty. They have excellent relationships with community stakeholders, including youth and MSM, as well as CBOs, health departments and national funders.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

ISIS is a unique organization that is using cutting edge technology to communicate with you and other at-risk groups about potentially taboo topics. They are raising awareness and educating the communities in which they work. Everyone that I worked with was extremely talented and passionate about the work they are doing and were very receptive to the ideas generated by our volunteer team.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their ability to incorporate our recommendations as we were proposing them - they adapted real-time (not waiting until the project was complete)
