I was a Professional with expertise in this field & Attended the 2010 Sex::Tech conference
Post public compliment
I've been following the achievements and initiatives that Deb Levine and her team over at ISIS have accomplished for a while now. However, finally getting a chance to attend their premiere event and delivering a talk gave me a new appreciation for the work they are doing. Bringing together professionals as well as activities/advocates young and old is not usually an easy task. But the ISIS crew made sure it happened.
Informative and well planned out - there is only upward for this important organization.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... With the exposure from presenting at the SexTech conference and interacting with all the individuals in the field interested in new media for public health.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... Their mission and using technology and new ideas to make it happen. Sexual health/public health is an area that can easily get overlooked. They are making it happen in new and successful ways.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Caring, passionate about their field and dedicated to making the world a better place.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Experiment, test and develop more initiatives for mobile phones - creating apps and programs for various mobile platforms.
Ways to make it better!
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… Continue to build partnerships even outside of health and into the education world.
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Funding - it's sometimes a battle to be able to get money for your initiatives as a nonprofit so I can only assume that ISIS must continue to find funding for it's great work.
I was a Professional with expertise in this field & Pro bono consulting on program strategy and growth on an ongoing basis.

Deb Levine and the entire ISIS team are true leaders in their field of promoting innovative technologies to address the sexual health education and promote HIV/STD prevention.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... Watching the organization think strategically about the best approaches to providing information that is culturally relevant and accesible via new technologies.
Ways to make it better!
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… Continue to push this model as a best practice for how sexual health education should be structured, including funding to expand their impact and reach.
I was a Board Member & Served on the board from inception to adolescence

ISIS was founded by Deb Levine, a pioneer in... pretty much every area of health education on the Web. Hard to believe that one person can launch Go Ask Alice and the for-profit ThriveOnline, then hit it out of the park with INSPOT, sexinfo and the Sex::Tech Conference. The organization grew, innovated, and delivered while I served on the board. I stepped aside when they outgrew me. Quality product and lean efficiency showed the way to use the Web to other non- profit organizations, corporations, and the public sector. Scalability? Check. Personalization? Check. Usability? Check. ISIS delivered on everything. I've worked with CEOs of Fortune 500 corps, high powered public officials, Olympic athletes. I'm not easily impressed. But call me a fan. I am as proud of my association with ISIS, their courage, and their delivery, as I am of anything I have participated in during my career.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... health promotion, sex education, and innovation. I've been at their amazing conference every year and would not miss it, nor would all the serious players in the field, as well as the up-and-comers.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... being part of a leading edge organization that is always anticipating the next thing.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... young and energetic. There's no blueprint for what they do because they are constantly innovating.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Change the world. Make healthy sex and frank discussion of sexuality a comfortable topic. Dramatically improve people's lives, lower STDs and teen pregnancy. Probably increase the overall education level in the process.
Ways to make it better!
- My experience would have been better if... we had a board that could meet more frequently and the organization had more financial stability for long term planning.
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… help them market the message better--they remain ahead of the curve in a ridiculously fast paced market. People need to know that they were the pioneers in every area they work in.
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... growing staff to the optimal level to get the message out, finding quality staff in a field so new there is no academic preparation, dealing with organizations that try to do the same work but don't deliver, measuring results in a new environment.
- One thing I'd also say is that... it's the right time to jump ahead with the ISIS message of honest dialogue using proven and cutting edge technology tools.
ISIS how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height your projects reach
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace under such pressures that come with the territory.
I love thee to the level of everyday's most quiet need, by sun and candle-light ISIS reveals the truth.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as teens struggle with age.
I love thee with a passion put to use upon the health of this nation
I love thee with a love I seemed once to have lost
Smiles, tears, of all my life! ---
ISIS, I love you more each day.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... changes made for the better in personal health choices.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... put a serious dent in the way people perceive and deal with their health.
Ways to make it better!
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… change their name to AWESOME.

ISIS provides relevant and useful information and services to individuals hoping to better understand the impact of STD's - to learn and become informed about STD's and to seek guidance when an STD is suspected. ISIS is familiar with a variety of communication tools that reach into the population of individuals most likely to be afflicted by STD's. They have focused their work on youth but have also provided services that have helped a broad range of individuals affected by STD's. They know what they are doing and are courageous in tackling a topic so few are willing to address in the US - Sex! Yay for ISIS
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... programs we conducted together; their support for YouthNoise's efforts to raise awareness for STD's and other sexual health related issues.
Ways to make it better!
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… Don't know enough to respond to this!
