Having acted in college, I was pleased when I saw the announcement of a produciton of a play I had been in as a young man. IRT's production of Philadelphia Here I Come was one of the more pleasurable theatrical experiences I have had in a lifetime of theatre going. The sensative and moving production had such a quiet charm and a grand feel for "irish working class" without ever giving into lucky charms stereotypes. The cast was well matched, the design spare and effective and the direction invisible in a way that made one feel as if you were peering through the window of the house to see a day in the life of the occupants. Fine theatre all the way round.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Ways that have enriched my life through the arts of theatre and story telling.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Ensure it's cotinued excellence in the theatre in a space that could handle over crwoding and in crease production values.

Ways to make it better...

It weren't quite so warm in the audience seating.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Financial

One thing I'd also say is that...

I still remember the JOY and visual beauty of one of the first IRC productions "GRANDCHILD OF KINGS" I certainly wished them well then but never dreamed that almost 20 years later they would be able to maintain that JOY and visual originality and beauty. Be able to establish a true neighborhood theatre community of such high quality. As a professional actor I am always impressed by the consistently high artistic standards. As an audience member I am impressed and comforted by the acknowedgement of the importance of the Theatre Company to the neighborhood. The welcome from neighborhood restaurants and other establishments is a real perk. One thing that really sets the IRC apart form other NYC companies is the extraordinary imaginative use of a very small awkward space. It is thrilling to see how they have solved the "problem" uniquely to such a wide variety of plays and styles.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

plays, musicals, small casts. large casts, comedy, drama, modern, period, well known repetoire, little known repetoire....IRC is fearless in its approach to each season.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

knowing when I arrive at the theatre I will see something unusual something not done by anyone else in NYC and something FIRST RATE

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

always friendly and helpful. You know the audience is IMPORTANT and TREASURED like family.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

have the flexibility to move critical and box office HITS to another venue or extend in its own season. It is always nice to think of being able to pay the staff...the actors..the creative team with more $$.

I Love the IRTC..I have become a member because I Am SO impressed with their productions. I Don't know how Charlotte Moore and Ciaran O'Rielly do it. They are true artists. You can't help be affected by their professional productions and their respect for PURE THEATRE. I'm amazed at their energy level. No sooner does one wonderful production close then another is waiting in the wings. Through the years, I Have gotten a favorite actress..Terry Donnelly. If I See Terry's name, I Immediately request tickets. Whatever production this wonderful actress takes her hand to, it is always brilliant.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

every production that has been presented for the last ten years..save 2-3.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Contribute money to their building fund.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

In the arts, there is a sensitive balance between being open to new creative energy and talent and keeping the standards of entertainment for ALL up. The Irish reperatory Theatre does this time and time again...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Warm, authentic, true lovers of the arts.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

get more exposure so others could be treated to an afternoon or evening of pure pleasure.

Ways to make it better...

the theatre was larger. They should have a bigger place to showcase their talent.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

exposure and generous benefactors.

One thing I'd also say is that...

This Reperatory group is unique and exceptional. I Would love to see them recognized for their wonderful contribution to the arts..

I have seen the last 4 productions of the Irish Theatre Company and every one of them have been superb. "The Emperor Jones" was incredible, better than I ever expected - fantastic acting! I'm looking forward to seeing all their future productions. Even if I'm not familiar with the play, I will see it because I know this company will do a great job.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I get just as much pleasure out of their productions as I do from the big expensive Broadway shows.

I saw Emperor Jones in November. It was my first time at the Irish Repertory Theatre. This was an amazing production, with exceptional acting, creative staging, and an overall riveting production. I look forward to attending future productions,

I have enjoyed the Irish Repertory Theatre for many, many years. My first experience was "Grandchild of Kings" by Sean O'Casey. I have not lived in New York for several years now, but, I do try to see one of their productions every time I am in town. I introduced my husband to the Irish Rep and he enjoys seeing their shows as much as I do. As others have stated, there are no bad seats and definitely no bad performances.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

have a permanent home in New York City and produce the best shows in town.
