I founded and serve as the executive director or Iraq Rose. I provide acupuncture treatments to vets every Monday in donated space at Emperors College in Santa Monica. We covert a classroom into a clinic with comfortable tables. I individualize the treatments even though it is a group setting. I started working with vets (and some military service members) right away to learn "hands-on" from them, their stories, their needs, to treat PTSD, and trauma. I developed the platform of our venue using limited resources that were available. Now after a year and a half of running the LAVA clinic, starting radio outreach, developing our website and brand of service, developing a program to teach aromatherapy to army wives and military families, and attracting talented healers who want to serve and contribute, and getting regular referrals from the vet center: we are ready to raise funds so that we can bring in great healers, develop, expand, and secure our program of holistic healing and education to heal and prevent war trauma, to promote stress recovery and health for vets and the military. Working to help veterans heal has been the highlight of my 20 years experience as a healer, RN, and acupuncturist.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Expanding my awareness and direct education about veterans issues regarding war trauma, PTSD, and body-mind stress. We have received postive feedback not only from clients, but also referring psychologists from the vet center.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Continue to organize and grow the executive board so that we have more active participants. We would like to be able to pay rent for our own space where we can treat patients and keep supplies.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Learning from my military and veteran clients. The satisfaction of knowing I have made a difference. I am honored by their respect and gratitude for our services. The volunteers and healers coming forward with open hearts and hands.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Acupuncuture students, nurses, professional healers, other medical professionals including MDs, social networking volunteers from Facebook, war veterans.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Realize the full potential of our mission to heal and teach an army of nurses, healers, military families and vets the best natural health technologies by which we can overcome, prevent, and transform stress, PTSD, and trauma response issues.

Ways to make it better...

I had more business help in organizing the foundation as well as active board members who could contribute time and energy to help me plan and execute the mission.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Fundraising and expanding the executive board with active volunteers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Thank you to Emperors College and to our wonderful patients (our best teachers). Blessings to everyone who helped us at Iraq Rose. Thanks to everyone who participated in the LAVA clinic from the beginning and along the way. God Bless You!

I am a combat vet being treated for PTSD, TBI (traumatic brain injury), and muscle damage from an RPG explosion. Iraq Rose Inc. is applying a holistic approach in my treatment. The acupuncture has significantly reduced the frequency and duration of my headaches. I have regained 90% rotation capability in both shoulders through a combination of the acupuncture and tai chi. I am also experiencing a reduction in nightmares and am often sleeping for 5 to 6 hours per night which is about an hour longer than normal. Blood circulation in my feet has improved significantly as demonstrated by my feet being usually warm instead of usually cold. All this is improving my attitude.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide it with it's own equipment.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

an improvement in my physical and psychological conditions.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

exceptionally considerate, analytical (the diagnosis thing) and professional.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

repair a lot of disabled veterans which would result in a reduction of prescribed medications.

Ways to make it better...

the treatment had been available soon after the 10 months I spent in the jungle and lowlands of South Viet-nam.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the staff have amazing ability to help me improve my lifestyle.
