I've had a great experience interacting with IOBY both online and in person at their events. It's truly an idea (empowering folks to work towards positive environmental change within their local sphere of influence) who's time has come! I've personally donated and volunteered at a few local projects and found the experience personally rewarding and I'll certainly participate again.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how it can positively transform my own neighborhood environment and creating an outlet for interaction that didn't exist before.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them all the support they need as they are filling a niche that often gets overlooked by government, social programs and other larger, national environmental organizations.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their underlying sense of purpose and I truly believe that they are filling a void that exists.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

have all been super friendly and helpful and made me glad to be a part of the event. I felt valued and that my opinions and efforts really mattered.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

grow and be replicated in cities across the globe filling the void that currently exists where government or national environmental non-profits fear to tread.

Ways to make it better...

only they had more projects posted that required funding and participation.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finding reliable sources of funding to support the staff and underlying mission behind the individual projects.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I think this is the future of environmental action that makes a difference in our communities.

I really like IOBY because I felt overwhelmed by the task of finding a green cause to support; I didn't have a lot of money to give, but I wanted to give a series of smaller donations to a cause that would benefit the neighborhood I love. I knew I wanted to give at the grassroots level, but I didn't know where to start looking. A friend pointed me to IOBY and their easy to use website. I liked seeing photos of the different projects and knowing exactly where my $25 would go. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to help keep their neighborhood and all of New York clean.

Really impressive. I'm not always most comfortable on the web, but when I met with Erin and Cassie, two of the IOBY staff, I think I understood the power of microfunding for the first time. Then I gave to my first political campaign in 2009!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make New York a place where every neighborhood had visible and adequately-funded environmental organizations--the first step toward making New York a clean place to live.
