I began as a volunteer with IMI about 8 years ago and subsequently was asked to serve on the Board of Directors. I am finishing my second term this year. Interfaith Ministries is a faith-based organization that began as a ministry from the 1979 tornado disaster recovery efforts. When I worked in the Rx Department as a volunteer I was amazed to see the number of clients that we could serve who could not otherwise afford their medications. Although I have not served as a volunteer for almost two years, I am starting again this week! IMI fills a tremendous need in our community and is much appreciated by its clients

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how people have been helped to afford costly precscriptions that are vital to their health.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue just as is. The board and the staff are continually looking at ways to improve and take that oppourtunity whenever possible.

In 1979, our city suffered through a tragic tornado. I am a very active United Methodist Christian. I was asked by the City of Wichita Falls to chair a reconstruction/redevelopment Committee after the tornado. Shortly after the Committee started to work, the Pastor of FUMC called me to tell me that the UMCOR of the Untied Methodist Church had sent huge monetary valued check to be used in our City. We talked a while and it was his idea to start a Faith based organization to help the victims fo the disster recover. That was the begining of Interfaith Ministries. It help so many people in the recovery.

I have been a volunteer receptionist at IMI for over 20 years. This organization is a unique faith based organization that is supported by many churches in the area. It is unique in that it is able to help in so many ways, with financial needs, food, helpful listening ear, etc. IMI has clients from all age groups, all ethnicities and is welcoming to all. Staff and volunteers work well together and seek to help the client in whatever way is possible.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've seen clients come in crying and at wits ends not knowing what to do or who to turn to and then see them leave releaved of some of their anxieties and having more focus as to how to approach their problems.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

extend service hours.
