in INTERACTIVITY READINGS for 2 seasons, and my workshop of one play THE CLEAN HOUSE was so successful with this program, we raised and extra $400 for the company and outside producers picked up the show for an 8 week fully produced run

As an actor, I was looking for a theatre company that offered quality theatre to the community. I was cast in Interact Theatre Company's 2006 production of URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL and later asked to join the company. Since then, I've been busy in staged readings, workshops, and currently performing in the area premiere of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS!

In a city that is often criticized for theatre, I have been proud to be a member of Interact Theatre Company for many years now. First, I was involved as a guest artist, and then I was thrilled to audition and be invited to join the company. We are involved in our community, by getting children interested and involved in writing, singing, dancing and acting in theatre. We are involved in our community through arts festivals, and great performances that get every day people interested in theatre...quality performances that help stimulate the economy in general. We are involved in our community by showing how GREAT theatre can be... We've done this through performances of classic pieces, musicals and original works, and by getting positive reviews and awards. Such a great organization! Thank you for listening. Vanessa Whitney

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my writing and acting skills. My company helped me produce my one-woman show, which got excellent reviews in Back Stage West and LA WEEKLY's Best of L.A. edition.

Meeting wonderful artists who LOVE theatre.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

anywhere from theatre lovers who just want to support local performance - to people who've been in the industry for years and want to support a top quality theatre company!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

I find working with Interact to be a joy. They are very professional and well prepared. Each time I work with them I find a new respect for the high caliber of art they are making. It has not all been good but where there have been issues, they have been dealt with in an expedient manner.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing their productions as well as directing a few.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not have the company be a democracy.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

become the Equity company that it has always wanted to be.

Ways to make it better...

they would have had their own space.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Inclusion of all the company members and growing a strong, supportive board of directors.

Quality live theatre. That's how I think of Interact. I've been going to their plays for several years now and am constantly pleased, surprised, and most importantly entertained. The range of material they work with is quite impressive. The acting is top notch. An asset to the L.A. theatre community. I leap at the opportunity to see an Interact production!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I always know that I will have (from start to finish) a wonderful theatre going experience.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very pleasant and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Really shoot for the moon! Buy or build their own theatre, and keep producing excellent plays that more people will get to see!

Ways to make it better...

Don't think it could have been.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Not sure... I could only think that not enough people know about this gem of a theatre company.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I wish them continued success and can't wait to see the next play!

I am delighted that Interact has found a home in the NOHO theatre district. While I would travel to whatever location where the company was housed, I am happy that they have found a home in an area that truly supports 'the arts.' In Los Angeles, it is hard to find good theatre companies that consistently offer quality performances. I have never been disappointed with Interact. I love the diversity of their players and the range of their talent. They certainly must be doing something right to draw the caliber of talent to their company.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

most gracious. You an tell that they truly enjoy what they do and love sharing it with the public.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

maybe partner with a college or university in opening the door for on-going new talent. They could afford a residence that would allow them to do whatever staging they choose, along with maximum creature comfort for the audience.

Consistently consistent – I’ve never know Interact Theater Company to disappoint. An outstanding company in the old tradition of the theater troop – I’ve followed the group for 20 years. Their play selections have always provoked and entertained. Thanks Interact for all the hard work that you do!!

Now in its 20th year, Interact Theatre Company has a long history for excellence and integrity. The company shows its commitment to the North Hollywood community through ongoing programs such as the free play-reading series and outreach programs. InterPlay, Interact's children's program, has inspired the youth of North Hollywood for over 16 years; some of the children who have participated in that program have grown up to become theatre professionals.

Interact Theatre Company is an outstanding example of what can happen when dedicated professionals come together to pursue their craft for the sheer joy of it. Fortunately, they decided to share the joy with the rest of us. I’m someone from the Washington, DC area who goes out to the West Coast about 4-5 times a year. Each time I’m there, I’m thrilled to partake of whatever stellar work Interact is offering – whether it’s to attend one of their fine weekly play readings or enjoy a full-scale dramatic or musical production. In the audience with me are people ranging from couples who just strolled down the street from their homes in the neighborhood to families who drove in from Long Beach or Ventura because they knew the quality of the performances and production would be worth the trip. Clearly, Interact reaches out both near and far in its quest to Educate, Inspire, and Entertain. The light they generate shines well beyond their little home in the NoHo Arts Center!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

observing the kids at the summer InterPlay program. Under the tutelage of caring Interact members, they practiced teamwork, gained confidence, and learned new skills, all while having a good time. Some of the volunteers were once themselves in InterPlay.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

establish an endowment and use the proceeds to implement its plans and priorities (expand marketing and outreach efforts? set up a scholarship? leverage the funds to bring in even more resources?)
